Using Maschine in conjunction with Traktor 2.5, help please Posted on: 14.09.2012 by Khadijah Wojtach Hey all, I've recently bought a Maschine mainly as a tool to use in conjunction with my Traktor 2.5 setup (Traktor Kontrol S4 + Midifigther). I've already tried setting up midi-sync between Traktor and Maschine (which works OK on Windows 7, it's alway off by 0.1 bpm). Only problem with this setup is that I can't record my mixes through Traktors built-in recorder So I was wondering if anyone could tell me if it's possible to route the Maschine audio through a Live Deck in Traktor? I want to lay in beats and effects through the Maschine software, not Traktor. I have watched some of dubspots tuts, and they are suggesting that I "drag 'n' drop" audio clips from Maschine to Traktors Sample Decks, but I don't see the point of all this extra work, when the Maschine software has much better sample/audio handling. | |

| Werner Kust 03.10.2012 | I've actually begin to setup JACK properly. It was a lot of trial and error, but I found a solution. Set up JACK like this. If you're a Vista/7 user, do not forget to launch everything as admin. Set every program you want to use JACK with to JackRouter (ASIO) as the audio device and start connecting in JackControl's Connections window. If you end up having not more than 4 ins and 4 outs, then follow this link. Now the connections get lost every time you close the Jack server/Control. Therefore, use the Patchbay, add every Traktor input as a Traktor Input Socket, every output as a Traktor Output Socket and do the same with the Machine ins and outs. Now connect the sockets in the same fashion you'd connect everything in the Connect-window, save the patchbay configuration and press Activate. So you'll see, as long as it's activated, everytime you start JACK every connection will turn up on its place. (You'll probably have to set this patchbay XML as the standard patchbay config in the Setup window if JACK doesn't do it by himself. Hope that helped, enjoy! Greetings |
| Khadijah Wojtach 16.09.2012 | Thanks for your answers Lucky for me, a friend just told me that he had my old Audio 2 DJ just laying around at his place. Had forgot that I even had it :S It was really easy setting up, but I'll give JACK a try. If it works just as well, then there's no reason for me to have all this extra cable around. And yes, it's internal mixing, and I want it to route through the live deck, as that'll give me EQ/vol control on the S4 |
| Werner Kust 16.09.2012 | Hm, it seems like it doesn't, but what I thought was if the mixing mode was internal (which I believe it is, because after all it's a controller that only works when Traktor is running), Traktor has got 3 types of outputs in the software: Main Out, Cue/Monitor Out and Record Out. So this record out then needs to be rerouted in Machine, if it has got one recorder after all oO But you could also make a Live deck and define Machine's output to the deck. It is actually possible by using virtual audio cables. And I don't mean using the program "Virtual Audio Cable (VAC)", because I tried it, the latencies make this software absolutly garbage. If you watched this video, DJ Endo used some software called JackOSX to route audio from Traktor to Ableton Live completely virtually. Same should be possible with Machine and Traktor. This is for Mac OSX only, but there's also a Windows Solution called JACK. Tried it, I kinda made it running a looong while ago, but it ain't as intuitive as this solution...(you have to run servers and clients and configure each seperatly and all this shite.) |

You could route Traktors Audio to this recorder then... - How many decks do you use? You could route the Machine output audio as a "Live Input" deck in Traktor, but that would take up one whole deck :/ Greetings, needforseeed |
