Traktor S4 original faders.. good 4 scratching??
Posted on: 13.10.2012 by Shera Finkelberg
how good are the faders really? Is the crossfader on the S4 good enough 4 scratch?? will they bleed sooner or later? i want to buy s4 but the only thing that is bothering me is that after couple of weeks/months the crossfader will start t o bleed, and in my country i can buy the innoBENDER, i have to order it and im not good with the cash 4 that investment right now...

so , if anyone , who uses S4 a lot 4 scratching can tell me his state and opinion!

also, i would like to add, that i have an option of buying numark n4, but i believe that s4 has better audio interface buiilt in and overall is a better product and the most important thing is that in the n4 you cant put innofader at all, or any other fader... correct me if im wrong...

tnx alot!

Every decent scratcher out there has worn out at least one fader. It's how you EARN your innofader these days!
tnx for the reply and all but you did not answer my question...

anyone else

On the plus side, when I decided to stop using it for practicing, I got WAY faster from getting used to that stupidly long distance. It can take the beating for a while, but my channel faders started to glitch (which I didn't abuse anywhere near as bad) and the crossfader has stood up to the hits. I lost faith in the S4 because of those up-faders
you mean long distance when you use it like a mixer??? i would use it just for one turntable since i sold the other one to get the S4 and i dont juggle alot... but tnx for the post , i believe i'll put the innobender after i gather some cash for it

The fader is smooth enough for scratching. I noticed a little bit of bleed every once in awhile, but it coulda needed a cleaning or somethin. The faders are however notorious for malfunctioning. Some believe its cause they get dirty, and fix it by cleaning it, but some havent had such luck

ANY fader is good enough to scratch if YOU are good enough to scratch. You don't need a great fader to learn how to scratch - you need dedication and a LONG attention span.

Also - listen to this guy:

It's a wide footprint (as compared to a standard 2 channel mixer) and to have good control of the records, I have to physically step to each side a lot while I'm juggling. Every movement takes time, so I was noticeably slower at getting to each record using the S4 as a mixer, than using my 10" Vestax battle mixer.

tnx for the reply.. i would use my S4 as a mixer... i would connect my SL1210 to it...thats why i dont care much about the jogs... they are allright for some basic scratches and stuff... and its a perfect product in my opinion for everything else... its portable, its powerful, its durable as i heard... so S4 is my option beacuse all of its features ... my only fear that the x-fader dont go out quick... because i need to collect money to buy the innoBENDER... and it will be in a couple of months...

If you're committing to scratch performance on a controller, you should probably focus more on what jog wheels feel best, before you worry about wearing out a crossfader. If a controller has shitty jogs, you're going to get sick of scratching before you wear out any components.
