Headphones - are sol republics tracks HD any good for live performance?
Posted on: 27.11.2012 by Maxie Miltz
Ive been using Beyer DT770s for the last year or so and yesterday my mate sat on them. I'm believeing about upgrading to a pair of HD 25-1 II's or Sol Republic V10 track HD's for durability. Seeing the Tracks are nearly a hundred bucks cheaper, are they any good?

Thanks in advanve

Not sure about the sound quality, but from what I can tell, the Sol headphones are not designed with DJ's in mind. First, the ear cups look like they are fixed and can't rotate...this makes it cumbersome to monitor/cue tracks in one ear. Also, the headphone cable is split so that it goes to both ear cups. Most "DJ" headphones are made so that the headphone cable only goes to one of the ear cups. This makes it easier to take them on and off and cue music on one ear without getting tangled with the cord.

All that being said, you don't need "DJ" headphones to go out and DJ. You can DJ with any headphones. DJ-specific headphones are just designed to give you better sound isolation, easy to take on and off and cue tracks with, built tougher for the abuse they will experience such as sweat in your head/hair from playing all evening , constant folding and crushing in your bag, replaceable cable as the original will break at some point....you get the picture.
