XONE 42 help!!
Posted on: 01.12.2012 by Tessa Gerou
Yooooo I am very new to the community and first off I would like to say I admire all the positivity on this site It feels like people are trying to help other than talk shit but off topic.
I am very new to djing for I was only producing for a year but decided to take it up a notch. I purchased a xone 42 analog mixer and was planning on using the mixer with my two x1's and a maschine mk1(hopefully picking one up within the week). I was djing with my apc40 and x1s for a while but it wasnt doing justice for me.
I play strictly minimal/dark grooves like shaded, kris wadsworth, richie, dubfuegooo etc. but I was hoping someone can help me on setting all of this up. Since the 42 is analog theres no midi mapping so How would I set up the 42 with traktor? I know i have to send the info from the comp to the mixer to the audio interface(audio 8) then to speakers? i get lost at this point but im more focused on setting the mixer up with traktor (preferences, directing each deck). I would really love some detailed direction from anyone who has a similar setup or even the same since its a pretty common setup. Any help is greatly appreciated!

PS, no im not some spoiled brat buying a 42 for my first mixer, I have a great steady paying job and I really Just wanted to get the setup of my dreams(DB4 when im ready) , Why not if you have the funds

You could look around for a used Audio 4, or if you're willing to drop the cash grab an Audio 10.

btw I pm'd you back about my Maschine controller

Thanks for the reply back! And thanks for all the help!!! I don't wish to mimic midi with the 42 I was planning on using the x1s to control traktor

ok so 2xRCA (red/white) from your audio 10 per channel to the Xone 42 Line ins, this should be 8 cables if you intend to use all four traktor decks.
then either:
1) XLR main output from the 42 to XLR/TRS in on you speakers
2) Booth out with RCA to you speakers

this depends on your speakers and cable lying around, both works fine for short distances at home. this sets you up to play some music on the xone, volume control will be either master for 1 or booth for 2 on the xone.

Now in Traktor the audio 10 should be set up automatically by the wizard if you run it. In general it should be like this: deck A Out 1/2, B out 3/4, C 5/6 and D 7/8

Christmas was good to me, swooped an audio 10 might as well I guess haha, so I take it I would need dual RCA cables both red whites on each side for each deck I wanna play with? Then quarter inch cables to direct te speakers to the mixer? Would I need quarter to xlr for the speakers to mixer? This cable ish annoys the hell out of me -____-

Forgot. Plug your controller into laptop and select it in preferences, controller manager.

Plug Audio 8 into your computer. Plug Audio 8's outputs into the back of your Xone. Plug speakers into back of mixer. Open Traktor go to preferences, Audio setup and make sure your Audio 8 is selected as the audio device. Click output routing then select external mixing.
