4trak vs. S4?

What's up all I am going to get a controller soon and have narrowed it down to the numark 4trak I believe. What I am wondering though as I am a traktor nut, how does it compare to the s4? I mainly mix house music but love to do some hip hop and school as well and love the scratch.

i just got the 4trak a week or 2 ago, now you can get the 4trak for 599.99 i just priced matched guitar center and got if for that price, so now its cheaper than the s4, i like how its built like a tank, and looks much more professional than the s4 imo, although i wish it was black, it bugs me that people say the s4 looks like a toy and it makes me not one haha, but i love the fx bar on the 4trak, i defiently dont regret buying the 4trak its awesome ! and its not even that heavy, any one who complains about carrying that around needs to hit the gym.

I'll be able to do a direct comparison for you in a few days, I have two S4's and a 4TRAK is on it's way. Over the year I've had the S4 it developed a couple of problems. The FX rotaries had to be replaced as they started to wobble around. The replacement's paint / sealant was flaking especially on the play button area.

However the dealbreaker in the end was it's inability to work with USB3 without upgrading to Windows 8 (which has other issues concerning the F1).

If you intend to scratch or manually beat match, The 4trak has the edge with the big accurate jogs and full size pitch faders. It's bigger and heavier yes, but I've lugged mine to gigs no problem. Cost wise, count in the price of a Traktor Pro licence if you haven't got one already, as the manufacturer edition is a bit limited.

I believe it's a perfect controller for scratchers: you can easily change the crossfader if it might break.
tho imho the S4 is smoother and looks good.

my friend had a 4trak, it's literally a tank.
Both are pretty good controllers -> you should try them in a local store to see which ones suits you the best; because the layout is different and maybe the 4trak is easier for you, maybe the 4S
