VCI-100 Overlays ... whats the difference? Posted on: 05.04.2013 by Charlie Vivo Just got myself a FW Kit to upgrade my standard VCI-100 controller.Im looking at the overlays in the DJTT shop. Whats the difference between v3 and v4 overlays? I mainly like to play House, techno and Drum n Bass, pretty much straight forward mixing with 2 decks. Would like access to some nice effects too. Im a bit of a beginner in the controller world (coming from 1210's and CDJs). Thanks | |

Kiyoko Wellisch 06.04.2013 | You can use whatever mapping you want, the overlay doesn't change anything. The only thing that could get confusing is if you step up to someone elses setup and the words don't match the mapping but if it's your controller you know what mapping you're using and as a result you don't need the overlay at all. Honestly I'd prefer no words on a controller at all. Just colours or a layout that helps you remember what is what. |
Charlie Vivo 06.04.2013 | I thought the whole point of the overlays was that they correspond with DJTT mappings? I know that mappings can be set to whatever, but as a beginner, id be happy to go with something that is simple and mapped out for me first of all |
Kiyoko Wellisch 06.04.2013 | They don't change anything other than the words. It's entirely up to you. It doesn't change anything. Lots of people just ignore overlays and have their controller mapped to do something entirely different to what the words say. |
Charlie Vivo 06.04.2013 | I guessed that. But why go for a v4 over a v3? and vise versa? Looking for the best overlay and fw for my requirements as above. thanks |
Kiyoko Wellisch 06.04.2013 | The difference is the words written next to the buttons. |
