OT: Why does my Windows 7 look so oldschool?

Hey guys,

I recently bought a Asus EEE pc 1018p for school and today i upgraded the ram to 2 gigs and i don't know if that's what caused it, but now my windows looks super oldschool (like windows 98). The taskbar is all gray, the start button actually says star instead of showing a little windows icon. I'm sure it's just a setting i need to change but i dont know how to do it.

here's what i looks like:

how do i get it looking like it should?

thanks

Agreed- I have an i7 laptop w/ 8GB of RAM and still use Classic.
If I want to see something pretty I'll buy myself a dress

Thanks man! Problem solved! im probably going to end up leaving it on ''adjust for best performance" but i was just scared that the ram upgrade had screwed something up since it looked like it should before the upgrade.

thanks again!

The theme dictates the appearance. "Classic" themes will give you that old school look. I would move away from themes altogether.

Did you check your control panel? Pretty sure you can choose whether or not you want it to have the older look.

Oh, reading your post, . its cause you have a netbook. Netbooks cant handle all the bells and whistles of fullblown windows 7

Either your video card cant handle Aero, or you have the settings turned down.
