G'day DJTT I'm hoping to get into SAE institute in melbourne either next year or the year after... what I'm asking is if anyone can throw some equations at me with examples so I have a decent understanding of how to calculate volumes at distance, frequency responces in a room and all that good stuff... I dont know very much at all but I wanna learn as much as possible so I can excel through my bachelors and maybe get a masters. thanks for any input.

i was going to do the course when i left high school, but i couldn't justify the money... and back then it wasn't recognised for any hecs or ausstudy.

they will, i believe he's just trying to get a jump on it... google will definitely give you some results

I have seen so many people with a certificate and no idea what goes on real life.
If I had a dollar for every graduate, who is absolutely stunned that he will not be mixing the band on his first day, I wouldnt need to work with them.

Go work for a company that does what you want to do. Start at the bottom. Push cases, roll cables and show interest. Help out the guy who does the job you want. Learn from him. Progress.
After you have done that for a while you will know 2 things.
1. If you really want to do the job
2. What study you can do to help you learn.
Certificates mean very little in this industry. Attitude and enthusiasm will go a long way.

11.08.2011		Yeah I'm graduating this year at the end of year 11 and then I'm staying enrolled in the school but only so they can sort out work experience easily and I can do other certificates through the school.

11.08.2011		I would suggest (and definitely seen this play out over and over again) that you go an haul boxes or roll cables or do something and get SOME kind of experience and a little bit of skill and an idea of what you want to do BEFORE you start any kind of course, especially SAE.

SAE will teach you how to push buttons, but they won't go into all the other realms of shit like style analysis, semiotics and other stuff that helps make you a PRO creative engineer.

You have to do that yourself. Also, SAE degrees are kind of a dime a dozen. I used to work with half a dozen blokes who all had them and only one was worth a damn behind a desk.

10.08.2011		Sorry, the deal is that there is so many people don't know what they aim for. And it's a waist of time being in a course like that if you don't know what you really want.

09.08.2011		One way or another in the Music Business you end up being someone's bitch or... you just try and do it your way, as a solo guy.
The person that best knows wht he wants is the one that gets it right.
Do you know how many people in my class only, know what they wanna do? I seriously don't get why even people bother to pay and do this. You'd be amazed.
