I haven't taken them out yet but they're sturdy, no wobbles that I've noticed, I'll have a play around and report back.

I'm believeing of modifying them at some point because there's no hole at the back. Hide the cables, exactly like your asking for

No don't have the bags, they're very well built and sit pretty flush with the mixer, I actually could do with a wider desk now, the ikea expedits are a bit narrow with my setup.

scroll down to ROAD READY: http://www.native-instruments.com/en...kontrol-stand/

Click the photo. That's the X1 or F1 tucked into it. With an aluminum housing holding it down.

That's pretty cool.

Too bad you can't snap the stands together if you have 2 next to each other.

Dagnamit, I ordered two of them! The protective cover and nylon bag closed the deal for me. What the hell am I gonna do with my two bags now?

They probably spend more on teabags in a month. I believe they would survive

And they would say "cool, your promoting the units that go on the stands for us for free, carry on"

[i'm kidding but it's probably true]
I honestly meant my comment as a joke, but you may be closer to the info at NI than myself....not like I care to dig on financials for a company that has possibly 50 salaried employees and represent only a fraction of minuscule market.

They actually would see that I'm selling them because they track these community s more actively than most average users.

1. They won't look as nice because the value-added processing for anodizing that aluminum is probably as much as forming.
2. They would most definitely not cost more....If I sold just bent units I bet I could pay myself $30 bucks an hour on top of materials and running costs. (At 10 bucks a unit)
3. It was a joke, I wouldn't waste my time making a batch or two of these because I don't even have a use for it.

By tools to make this part, u mean a hydraulic sheer. u can find them used for a couple hundred bucks. Oh and some super glue to put rubber feet on the bottom.

I'm getting another this week for my iPad.
I used to believe Ikea was overrated since the mattress I bought from them was pretty uncomfortable, but now I really miss Ikea seeing all these DIYs.

I believe it's a novel idea for a hard case, but seeing as I already have the soft case, I won't be going with this. The one advantage I could see here is that the soft case is still wider then the F1/X1 itself, which has presented itself an issue to me before. This is the same width, which would be a + to me. maybe when I get another F1 and hear some peoples reviews of this I'll switch both of mine to them. Until then, I'm good.

I bought 3 of them as well as butter rugs and new blue kontrol vinyl.

I was designing some myself, very similar design, except I love the hard top case. I'll see how they go. $ they are a bit expensive but go and try and design some yourself and get them made, I'm guessing they'll 1. Not look as nice 2. Cost more.

Unless you have your own tooling like the other poster said

Just cut this thing to the width you need and polish down the sides.

Still believe the bag's better, my X1 is rock solid on my bag when flat and even bentter when you have it tilted. Whats the point of this product ?

It's a bit overpriced but i'm sure it does the job fine, since they already charge like 35 euros (i believe) for the soft bag i suppose that that's the next step up for something harder wearing. Personally I've already got a bag for my x1 so this would be a waste of money and that bag works fine for protection in transport and as a stand, I kind of see this as a bit unnecessary tbh considering they already sell a case for it which works fine.
