So that SHM set last night

So that SHM set last night
Posted on: 17.12.2011 by Kati Khait
Did anyone feel like it brought dj'ing to a different level? I was completely stoned at home when I was watching it so maybe that has to do with it, but compared to other sets in the past and other big/mainstream artists it didnt even compare. Just so much energy even while I was just at home

On a side note though it made me lose a little respect for them because I realize why they're so good: there's 3 of them. With 3 people you can do so much at once, it's like having 6 hands basically so you can be all over everything.

But again, very professional looking and sounding.

From what I could tell, and I watched the whole thing from start to finish, it didn't appear to be premixed. I'll agree that I'd imagine a ton of edits were made and the set was planned to an extent, but can you blame them? With that amount of pyrotechnics, production value, and the fact that they brought out guests, the whole production crew had to have at least SOME idea of what was gonna happen throughout the evening .

I understand that SHM is not for everyone, and their music has certainly gotten more poppy in the last 2 years (i.e. "One" & "Save the World") but in my opinion both Axwell & Ingrosso are fantastic talents on the decks and in the studio, Angello is another story from what I've heard. However, SHM brings it every single show and they are really at the forefront of bringing Electronic Music to the masses, and I have to thank them for that. 3 years ago, I was weird amongst my friends cause I listened to House & Electro, now its commonplace and we share a ton of musical interest because of SHM & similar artists making it more accessible to those who'd otherwise never discover EDM.

Definitely didn't bring DJing to any new level and being stoned probably had something to do with it. I believe most of what was impressive was the whole production value and the scale of it and the light show. I'm probably biased because I don't like a good amount of the music they play and it is a little cheesy for me.

I don't believe having 3 people there had anything to do with it, it's not like most of them did anything. One person mixed, or pretended to mix, while the other two jumped up and down with their hands in the air. That was about it. I mean the song selection was well thought out and the mixing was very clean- almost too clean sounding.

If the whole thing wasn't a premix then I'm sure all the mashups or song edits were done beforehand in the studio and everything was warped since it really didn't look like they were doing much while it was going on.

i prefer sebastian ingrosso out of the bunch. axwell is cool but i haven't seen him live yet while i have seen ingrosso live already. Steve Angello always seems like he believes a little bit too much of himself.

The pre mix isn't that good either. There's loads of bad transitions. If your gonna play a pre made mix atleast have a decent pre made mix. What a let down haha

Wow and that pressure/fix you mashup... pre made just found it on soundcloud. That's such a bummer man I was so excited when I heard that at first

Didn't mean to start up all this, I just thought it sounded really good sitting at my friend's house with surround sound and a large tv.

Kinda makes me sad to see that SHM are like this now. As much as I don't want to say it Skrillex-dubstep Deadmau5-Electro/House SHM-ProgHouse

Funny seeing is as absolutely hate Skrillex and like only a few songs from deadmau5

That video is a joke, he doesnt give a fuck. thats what happens when you get big in the game. you get complacent. funny when he is eqing while he is 4 feet away from the decks. nice man aswell stubbing out fags on the floor, spilling drinks and throwing his cups like he is a king for someone else to clear up not like he is busy mixing is it. what a dickhead

I know a lot of people aren't big SHM fans around here, but I thought the set was great, it obviously wasn't recorded as some people may suggest (see where Ingrosso turns down the vocals to Adele's "Set Fire To The Rain" for the crowd to sing and no one knows the words) and obviously the production value was TOP notch. I've seen SHM live a few times as well and it is ALWAYS one hell of a party.
