History of the Amen Break Posted on: 17.12.2011 by Kayce Mesia http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SaFTm2bcacAlthough Nate's voice is rather monotonous, I found this 20-minute video interesting. The Amen Break has certainly melded into the collective audio unconscious. I've realized how common this break is now. :| | |

Kandra Fagler 21.02.2012 | No but the main melody is taken from the original song "amen brothers" if you have a listen to the original 1969 song you will hear what I mean The main idea is to remix the actual Winston's song rather than recycling the amen break alone If you warp the original 1969 song into 128 bpm and mash it on top of my track they merge together (sounds really cool ) but I am not allowed to sample anything from the original track other than the drum loop haha |
Rey Holubar 21.02.2012 | Um, other than part with the original amen break, is it used elsewhere in the track? scamo |
Kandra Fagler 21.02.2012 | hey guys while we are in the topic of the amen break, just wanna share my remix of the winstons' amen brother that i did for my school assignment its a house/electro/brostep remix of the 1969 funk classic comments and feedbacks please http://soundcloud.com/ivan-zilch/deadpixel-amen-v1-unmastered as a part of my school assignment i need to get people's feedback and document them in a marketing research essay, so please kindly let me know what you believe i still need to do some final touch ups and mastering but the whole idea is pretty much here |
Carl Lorig 29.12.2011 | First time I've seen that, so I appreciate the post. Particularly enjoyed the last few quotations about sampling and how copyright laws can have an adverse effect on the creation of new music. I thought the monotone voice worked given the context |
Brinda Tidrick 28.12.2011 | Yeah this is wicked. Just goes to show, the smallest things can inspire massive movements. |
Rey Holubar 18.12.2011 | Interesting stuff. The commentator's voice reminded me of these guys. http://djfameorshame.com/2010/12/13/i-want-the-bitches/ scamo |
Latoria Kavulich 18.12.2011 | amen brother |
