Emigrating to Australia!! Posted on: 23.04.2012 by Kristofer Krauel My wife's employer has offered her a job in Perth and our visa's have been granted today!!! Everything is moving VERY fast and we expect to leave the UK on 28th May!! Very exciting but very daunting at the same time. Never been to Australia before even for a holiday but this opportunity has just landed on our lap and these things don't come along every day. We feel extremely lucky to be given this opportunity.Just really looking to hear peoples experiences. How did you settle in to your new country? How long did it take to really feel at home? How did you cope with missing friends and family? One thing i am looking forward to is having somewhere for a permanent set up. I currently use an S4 and it has to be packed away every time i finish using it. I'm hoping that once i settle in Aus i find a place for a permanent set up. Hopefully 2 X1's 2 CDJ's and a decent mixer again! Also interested to hear from any DJTT-ers who are currently living in Perth themselves. What evening spots would you recommend? Where are the decent music stores? Cheers Jon | |

Kristofer Krauel 24.04.2012 | Durtyjerzy, thanks man appreciate the advice. It does feel a little like we are going on holiday at the minute so not too bad but I can imagine it all sinking in after a few months. JRHunter, I'd heard Northbridge was ok. But then again I currently live in Stoke on Trent which is just about as bad as things get. We are looking to rent in or around innaloo, Osborne park etc. all looks great on google maps... Could be a completely different story when we get there!! Daniel, I'm taking my s4 too. We can set up a crew!! |
Sylvia Narra 24.04.2012 | Kooper: Theres three main places in perth, Northbridge (the dodgey but very busy area), Subiaco (the 'classier' area) and Perth City (which i have never actually been out there so cant really say). Northbridge is well known for lots and lots of people and lots of fights but lots of places to go out so depends on your crowd i guess... i personally prefer Subiaco as i would rather deal with pretentious people than drugged up idiots. Im living just above North Perth. Its an ok area i guess but nothing really up here. Perth is good... just warm |
Joella Stottsberry 24.04.2012 | Gonna go for college to Perth in one year, taking my S4 with me for sure and anyone know what majors did Ean Golden do.. I wanna be like him . not joking.. making and testing dj gear is a fucking sick ass job |
Stefania Herb 24.04.2012 | I emmigrated from the USA to the UK and wow get ready for some culture shock and make sure you have sumone at home thats willing to send you the stuff you cant get... remember no marmite in australia... make sure your friends and family have skype or sumptin similar, cause flying back n forth to visit family takes its toll reallly quick... and most of all... you will get homesick without fail at first youll be all in shock of living in a new coutry but that will wear off and youll be left with the reality that ur far far from everything youve ever know... dont stress.. embrace it and good luck ! ! ! |

Sylvia Narra 23.04.2012 | Hey I believe I might be the only djtt-er in Perth!! So welcome!! There's really only 3 or so main areas for evening
life and most try to avoid one of those unless you like gettin stabbed. I'm sure you'll find somewhere you like tho. I've only been here for a bit over a year so yet to find some really cool places. And correct me if I'm wrong... But isn't it immigration |
