So i sent this kid called dj frankis (kid that dj's at school's and 12 year old's bdays) a email saying i challenge you to a minimal techno mix he responds with "how do you listen to that shitty music. sounds like a fucking jungle! how about no, just because its a shitty genre i wasnt too impresed with transitons tho" I really don't understand this kid bashing one of the biggest genres in dance music and saying im shit when he can't even keep two records in time (watch his youtube videos @dj frankis)

This is not the place for this type of stuff.

Baned for not being a man.

You gotta take stuff more on the chin if ya wanna deal with performing to people.

Ask him round for a cup of coffee and piss in it.

Seems you are stooping to his level seeing as though you posted what happened on the Forums.

Hey, that kid has a high fan base it seems. Looking at the comments on his videos, there are a lot of 11-13 year old djs out there, kinda makes you wonder if djing is really an art that you learn to love and appreciate. Or is it just something that everyone see's on tv and wants to do also. Its sad but right now it has the same feeling of a fad that booms in and wears out. hope iy aint so...

I am so confused by this.

and as has been previously stated, what exactly is a "challenge mix?" Who decides who wins? Why did the challenger challenge?

Ive usually heard battles, challanges, sound clash, take place in the genre that the two djs specialize in. Scratch battles, both djs are scratch djs, sound clash usually two reggae djs ordubplates sound crews playing dubplates. It would really seem unfair to challange someone to something they dont spin. very uneven battle. Its kinda like having a cook off, but having all vegetarians judges, and only one person cooking tofu chilli we all know whos gonna win by default. but this is me speaking on the situation without knowing the true background of it all

Ed this is how this post will benefit the community - more and more 12-15 year olds seem to be joining, and then demanding gigs or satisfaction or attention. This should be an eye opener for everyone to help make sure that this attitude in DJing stops. This is the same kind of attitude that leads to guys not getting off of the decks when they are supposed to, bashing on community s, arrogant PaulyDesqe mindsets and all around douchebaggery. (MYE, not necessarily talking about you, making a general observation)
DJTT a victim of its own success - Shitty controllers and shitty routines playing shitty music that appeals to 12 year olds.

If someone randomly "challenged" me to a mix off in a genre I didn't particularly like or know very well* I'd possibly say the same things. It doesn't sound like he was dissing you too much, just the music which he doest like to begin with.

So why did you challenge him in the first place?.. and why choose minimal techno and not some middle ground between yours and his genres ?

*Dubstep

Maybe you should post this fantastic minimal mix on here so the people who know and appreciate the genre can judge ?
