What are you doing to push your DJ/Production career forward?

Basically as the thread title says. What are you doing to push your career forward even if it's just to improve in the bedroom or even get a small gig you would like?

For me I have personally had a great year so far and next year is looking even better

How about every week for 6 years?

I ran a radio show for 6 years and recorded every set each week. Was a full 2 hour show as well.

Personally just working on more releases, practicing DMC turntablism more, and trying to integrate my routines with more controllism action. Playing out regularly, opening for some bigger names and doing some larger underground parties.

i need to pull the finger out big time, my dj career kinda peaked in 2009 with my debut at Ministry of Sound (after djing for 10 years), supporting Sander Kleinenberg and Welfare for the Digital. Since then the day job (cameraman/broadcast engineer) has taken over, but id like to reset the balance.

Its a tough enough scene over here, i have a residency where i play commercial shit...that mainly funds new gear and good house music. Getting a gig playing house is easy if a) you dont want money, b) can bring a load of mates or c) extortion lol (i have one of the few DJM900s in Northern Ireland, so try to get gigs at the events I hire it out to.)

I finally secured gigs on clubs from now on. The guy who contacted me liked how I play and told me he'll be asking me to play on every event he makes from now on. So I'll get all the warm up sets and even headlining from time to time. I've already had two gigs this month and had to refuse this one this weekend since I had a wedding to attend. So that's already a big objective finally accomplished.

What I intend now is to secure weekly gigs as to get my name thrown out a tad more and to expand my networks.

I also have to start preparing remix sets for some kind of live performance now that I have an F1. So I believe I'm on the right track after 2 years of constant learning, trying and failing (although there have been times in which I just haven't been able to devote much time to dj'ing).

So i have had quite a good few weeks at my end guys.

I have my gig at Ministry next weekend (7th).

Was asked to do a gig at an established club evening in my town but due to already having a residency at a competing club i can't really do it. But i'm in talks about organising something else with the guy that runs it (he's a good mate).

I'm doing a guest mix for a very well established club evening a little north of me which is leading to a few guest spots in the opening of next year with my studio partner/co-resident (another friend runs this).

My production is pushing forward with some positive notes from some experienced guys i know..

Now my setup is finally finished i'm trying new things and exploring even more new music.

Keep your stories coming guys.

Beatport contests can be a good way of promotion. You get to remix quality productions for free and directly expose your stuff to other people that you otherwise wouldnt.

Just began a monthly podcast with music from our recent sets and also original productions.

A lot more work in the production side and added a new Akai MPK49 and a Maschine MK2 to the gear list. Have been submitting a lot of content to Insomniac's Discovery Project events.

Recently got chosen for a spot at Insomniac's Nocturnal Wonderland festival in San Bernardino. Can't wait to grind and get into more festivals.....the energy is on a different level!

Well I played that gig I mentioned earlier at the bar I've been waiting for a long time to play at on Wednesday. I had a family emergency on monday so I was out of town and busy from monday morning till like an hour before the show so I thought it was gonna be a huge train wreck, but ended up hearing our name (Light and Sound) on the radio for the show on the way to setup and having the best show I've ever had and got asked to come play again. I feel like this show really pushed my comfort zone and DJ Career

As I don't Dj out anymore, I'm basically just picking up gear and trying new things.

I took most of 2012 off from anything music minus a few mixes, to focus on college, but 2013 hoping to finish an Album I am working on an putting more production stuff out, and some dj/live remix sets out for the fun of it.

Production, production, production.

Trying to work outside of my box.
Mixdowns, mastering.
Just done a 100% original set to be aired on friday 8:30pm at www.purpleradio.co.uk (cheeky self promotion and it has an exclusive new track)
Hoping to branch out into more collaborations.

Trying for blog features, getting a few and just general networking with blogs.
Talking production with local DJs.
Hoping to piece together an EP since I can't keep things secret for shit.

Still just trying to put out good mixes for the scene I'm interested in. I've only played live once (amazing gig though) and I'm dying for more. I've been in talks with another DJ in the city to possibly host our own event so we can both get more recognized...

Other than that, not sure where to go next.

I've only found the last one, the other ones are taken off from Zippyshare xD most of them were 1 hour long, but in the last show I decided to test myself, so I tried to do a 3-hour mix, pretty awesome xD btw it's mainstream electro & progressive house, I understand you don't like it

For me I secured a gig at Ministry of Sound in London next month, away to start evening classes in sound production and plan on stepping up the game a little in my residency and trying new things there..

end of 2011/ beginning 2012 i massively correspondet with a lot of producer. asking them to send me some of their tracks to play them in the clubs or in my mixtapes. had a lot of success and got some good promo and made some good promo for others. this turned into getting a lot of request to play certain tunes and so. it
