Swedish House Mafia - Don't Worry Child
Posted on: 02.04.2013 by Jerica Salava
I forgot my iPod at home so I was flipping through stations on FM in my car.

I heard this song and thought "what the fuck is this garbage?"

I got home and googled it and it's Swedish House Mafia - Don't Worry Child

I sat in front of my PC , tried to open my brain as wide as possible and played it 7 times over.

I just don't get it ??? Horrible simpleton chords over and over and over, stupid lyrics, processed mediocre vocals.

What is going on here? Do you believe that SHM perfected how to manipulate dumb people?

Am I missing something here?

Sorry I get so fired up sometimes. I just thought that "house" was supposed to be something sacred.

I feel so strongly about Swedish HOUSE Mafia because they have no respect for the house genre.

They high jacked the house name to sell their garbage to the naive masses.

If you don't understand house, you never will. SHM punked your asses.

R.I.P. Swedish House Mafia. Good Riddance.

im not sure here but i believe you are hating on the RADIO versions of the songs you hear from producers of House music.
Ill be honest with ya.... i can look in my house music folder at something from a cheesy label and if i come across one version called RADIO EDIT
i delete it. Because i know two things here

1) its gonig to be about 3 and a half minutes long
2) its been compressed and sped up to fit the format of whats played on FM Radio stations.

I can also look in that same artists release folder and find 3 other tracks of hte same title, which sound GREAT
and i HATE common stuff. FM is completely not what i play on my radio station, or at my gigs.

I believe you might need to broaden the field of tracks you listen to my man.

Later on they are shopping with their girlfriend at the mall, the gas station, the oil change, the car wash, the barber, the corner store, and the SHM is inescapable. That's 5 times a day, 35 times a week, 1050 times a week.

Shit by the end of this thread I might like this shitty song too.

This thread was off to a bad start but for some reason I found this post absolutely hilarious. Probably because there is some truth to the absurdity of your vision of how people get hooked on SHM.

The fact you don't know what track is was without checking shows you aren't a fan of that genre or style and should keep your thoughts to yourself.

Everyone has different tastes, whining about one that doesn't suit you gets the sort of replies this thread is full of.

It will be considered cheesy in 5 years when everyone is listening to the next big thing, but it will rock a dancefloor regardless. For the UK guys, it's release perfectly coincided with the Jimmy Saville scandal, and as such "Heaven" is regularly replaced with one of the many paedophile surnames that came (and are still coming) out.

(Because English people are funny bastards.)

Sure. Why not. I like the track and Masquerade Motel 2012 was a ridiculously good time. Not sure how helpful that is, but, well, there it is. So i guess the answer to the original question is, yes, you just don't get it. But that's cool. Not everybody has to get everything. There's lots of stuff that people like that i don't get. As to why people like SHM, well, I guess they like their music and their shows are (were) alot of fun. I believe that's about it.

Oh god, I can't stand that track.

Sting's made much better stuff since he went solo, for example:

And yeah, I know it's technically Craig David featuring Sting, but you just know the entire track was Sting's brainchild.

It's smart made because you can sing along to it and its really simple with a catchy tune. You also share the feeling with the rest of the group or dancefloor
-> receipt for mainstreamclubhit.

I do kind of agree with you. The track in itself is mediocre at its best. SHM did quite a good job with save the world, or greyhound for that matter, but this track just.. doesn't convey as much energy as their others. The only part i really like is the intro of the extended mix.
Nevertheless, i still get requests for this track at almost every gig, so you can't deny the reach it had all over the world.
I believe the reason why it's so popular is that they used it to promote their onelasttour thing, used it as a "farewell track".

Generally the entire rooms raises their hands in the air and sing the chorus together, then rave for a bit when the drums come in, then go back to singing. It works even better if you've got a decent lighting rig which can shine spotlights down on the crowd.

My observation from folks like loverocket and the other guy who said this song was crap is that you guys go so much OUT OF YOUR way to go against the grain that you create posts to let people know you are against mainstream. Kinda like to validate it to yourselves. The glass is always half full. Imagine if for every country song, or DnB song, or Glitch Hop, Grime or whatever other genre I don't listen to I made a post "who the hell listens to this crap" strictly to then tell folks Hip Hop is the better genre, or even better Hip Hop is dead...Hip Hop from the 90's is real Hip Hop so I must be legit.

It's this cycle just to prove/validate yourself by going against the mainstream.

SHM --- not really crazy about them, but their songs are hits and this is catchy tune. Not sure what the big deal was that this song needed it's own thread.
Heh. My thoughts exactly from the start :P except not as well worded.

I absolutely love it. All their singles have been huge hits. It just gets the crowd pumped in a mere second.

If you really need to salvage your set and you're in a 'mainstream' environment, just drop one of the SHM songs.

The reason why SHM did so well is because all of them have been able to produce really well on their own.
