As DJ, producers and music lovers I am certain that some of you have stumbled upon ellaskins, either through youtube videos or through DJtutor.com.
I was sad to receive the news of him having serious financial troubles and so I am just spreading the word that our dear friend and tutor needs our assistance!

Sounds like this man needs a better lawyer. Almost no country with some kind of statue of limitations would give her a dime of their earnings when she committed adultery

So is the website DJ Tutor down because I get a blank screen when I tried visiting it?

When I was getting started in DJing four years ago I found him to be entertaining and very informative.. even I could understand him with his ascent. He made me laugh but he get the point across.

he should have signed up for youtube ads... with that many subscribers and views he gets, the ads program would surely help

I'm talking to some people i know that are in finance. he might be able to refinance, depending on his income and credit. although i don't know what the law is on foreclosure (or if this is a potential divorce liquidation). if its the latter, there might not be anything he can do aside from buy her out.

he needs a lawyer. if its the latter, then if she's not a total heartless bitch, he might be able to make monthly payments to her to buy her out, which could make the situation manageable. but he'd need to get a lawyer to negotiate something like that for her.

if its a foreclosure, he should have some refinance options available to him depending on his credit and income.

The guy feels like a good friend to me. A good friend who taught me the very basics when I had no clue.

I received a response from Ellaskins buddy Tony, who I believe is the guy who is always on the road with him to gigs?

Thanks, we might set up a paypal account specially for donations to buy J's house in a week or two.
We can already take donations to DJ Tutor : [email protected]
or: www.djtutor.com/donate

J is a YT partner, and it does bring in some cash, but nowhere near enough to buy out his stbx

Well consider this. The show is done at his house, the show is done with his gear , with his time for FREE. All of that can be gone if everything just disappears in an instant. Hes not exactly a company or a business, hes not making any money off of his video, no ads from youtube or anything.

Should he start doing some of these things, such as asking for donations, or doing ads? At this point why the hell not. I believe hes proven to the whole community for being in the game to just play music and show people his love for DJing. You make it out like hes a corporation. Hes a guy in his house who makes videos that help millions of people.

Heres a link to donate.. If u feel hes taught u a skill at some point, give him a few bucks for it..

He really does cover basic skills very well.. Most tutorials gloss over stuff just expecting u to know it and as a beGinner, u usually dont know it and are left with gaps/question marks.

So heres the link:
http://www.djtutor.com/donate

I gave him 25 usd which i felt was the value i took away from some vids a while back.

The guy is going through shit, regardless of rumors, insinuations and your personal opinions on what is right and wrong with the legal system, the guy is reaching out. Reaching out to the viewers (read: most/many of us) asking for a hand. Who knows who is viewers all are? Maybe there are some big name DJs making piles of disposable income that may feel like they owe him for all of the help. Dudes videos are top notch. He's got a way of teaching that drew me right in, I've learned a lot from him. Let's stop arguing over why he needs the money, it won't serve any good. If you can help him, great. If not, no need to drag out arguments over things we know nothing about. This video saddens me, but it happens to so many people. Send money, or your thoughts to him, don't drag him through the dirt.

I know I hark on about sexism and prejudice in general rather a lot but I can't help wonder if he would have got the kids if they swapped genders. It just seems mad to me that the person who destroyed the children's stable environment gets to be the one to look after them.
Still we know nothing of the situation so there's no point in discussing it really.

As I mentioned its quite possible that there is an outstanding mortgage on the house for more than the actual current value in which case he would be left with a MASSIVE debt to pay off to the bank AND lose his home in which case Djtutor would most likely close down.

Also the courts tend to favor the Mother for custody of children, "for the good of the children" is always going to be their goal. Especially if the mother in question has already sorted living arrangements (House / Apt with the new bf etc..) and his finances / living arrangements are in dispute.

This is all quite apart from legal bills etc stemming from a divorce in the first case.

Its a horrible situation for anyone to be in.

The video seemed heartfelt, driven by emotion however the explanation not very well thought out.

People in marriage have a (financial) duty of care towards each other until such time as a marriage is dissolved. Unreasonable behaviour is grounds for divorce but it does not absolve both parties of this responsibility until that point. Ultimately a court can decide who gets custody of children.

Again, he doesn't need the money "for" the show, he needs it to avoid the last bit of shit storm that will make him hit true rock bottom, hence leaving him without the will power to keep making the tutorials. Btw, he makes free tutorials so there is no point really in judging how professional he is. He posted this video as a regular joe going through very rough times.

He probably couldn't take individual donations from people due to the possibility that his soon to be ex would be entitled to half of anything you give until the divorce is final. Shitty situation that I hope to never experience.

On another note- I don't understand the legal system at all when it comes to break ups. How does someone get to cheat and then is allowed half the house and gets the kids? That's just plain wrong.

...and after losing his wife and his children... Looking at his dilema in terms of square footage and overheads is showing a lack of even a basic understanding of what happens when you grow up and involve yourself in the 'real world'.

Maybe he deserves that house and is having it ripped off him unjustly.

I have to say it takes a very young mind to look at things in such a black & white, remote and overly-pragmatic way.

I mean "It sucks and all"... come on man.

Sweet Jesus - the guy has lost his wife, kids, home and place of work in one go. His life has done a full 180 in a short space of time, with an immediate future of emotional hell and unimaginable financial strife. I wouldn't wish the dark place he's in right now on anyone.

Stop breaking his balls and put yourself in his shoes.

Wow, this is sad to hear. I use to watch his videos for fun and push it to people who were bugging me on DJ questions.

Maybe, he should set something up on kickstarter.com and ask people to invest into djtutor.com, which in turn he could use the money received to keep his house.

Im a subscriber to his youtube channel and have watched nearly all his videos so yeah it's true his pace aint perfect but like any other teacher or professor they come in all shapes and forms. That said he's a pretty good teacher about the art I love and Im really bummed about his problem because that pretty much happened to a very close relative of mine.

A separation for such reasons breaks your heart, your self esteem, your views of life, your money... everything. It's not easy to get out of that and usually takes years to get your shit together. Yes he's asking for help but seems like the guy has his standarts to outright ask for money. I believe his fans/students/followers/whatever can make the difference and help BIG time.

Moral of the story is never get married or if you do, get a lawyer to specify what will happen to the goods you might have before the wedding and those acquired during marriage. Also try your best against all odds and procrastination self-faggotry to study something that can get you a decent job in case you get separated, you could still afford to live on your own.

I don't believe DJTT is the correct place for speculation of such an issue.

I know you are not making an accusation, i get that. Im not having a go.

That accustation was/has never been proved. In fact it was just comments on his page I believe.

Lets leave that alone i believe guys.

Just terrible news, his youtube videos are really good, and of course nobody would wish such things for another person.

But I wondered: About 6 months ago I went onto the DJ tutor website and I saw something on there that said that he sexually abused his children wich led to his kids being taken away from him. Does anybody else also recall this ?

(I'm not implying he 's a sex offender, I'm just saying what I saw on that website)

Dear Ellaskins,

Greetings from the US. I've been a big fan of your videos ever since I got into DJing, and I am very sorry to hear about what you are going through. After watching your recent video, "HELP KEEP DJ TUTOR GOING PLEASE!" I found myself with a huge desire to help, but completely lost as to how I was supposed to do that. Now, let me begin by saying that I am a full-time college student so I do not have money to "invest". The problem with your video is that it is very confusing as to how you want people to assist you. I saw a post on DJTT Forums showing your video, but most people commenting wish they could help but have no idea how. You need to provide more information for someone to be convinced to help.

Considering that a large portion of your fans are not financially inclined to make investments on your house, there may be other ways that people could help. Why not set up a Paypal donation button. I have some money on a paypal that I don't mind donating, and I am sure most people wouldn't mind donating some money considering all the great videos you have provided. I know you do have a paypal donate button, but it is very hidden on your website and I had to literally search for it. Why not put a little donate link under your videos?

Also, are you partnered on Youtube? Are you monetizing your videos? I'm not sure that you are, and if you aren't then WHY NOT? My girlfriend is partnered on youtube, and has only 9k subscribers and she makes $100 every few months. I know that isn't much but hey, every little bit counts right? With the amount of views you have on your videos, and the constant traffic you get, I can't imagine that you won't make a few hundred dollars a month.

I guess the point of my email is, help us, to help you. There are plenty of people out there that are capable and willing to help, whether it be by donating, or clicking on the ads on your videos.

I wish you the best of luck.
+1. Sound advice

He clearly married the wrong woman but... do you believe she left him cause he was spending too much time making youtube dj tutorials videos for free? I mean be an amazing woman to believe that's attractive right?

My missus likes my DJing, part of what attracted her innit, but even she gets a bit knarky at how much time I like to spin and post chat on DJTT.

Jus sayin
