Can you recommend me a 4 IN/4 OUT USB or FW soundcard
Can you recommend me a 4 IN/4 OUT USB or FW soundcard Posted on: 14.04.2013 by Nereida Jasnoch Hi, I'm really in need of a soundcard. My monitors are directly hooked up to my laptop at the moment. (Yes I get crackling/static occasionally) This is what the soundcard should be able to do: In the studio: -Something decent to hook my monitors up to (they use RCA) -Easy to reach knobs for output volume/gain -Need to be able to plug in a mic -Headphone out would be nice DJ setup: -1 input for recording the mix -1 input for a send/return -1 output for a send/return (send/return probably with Xone 92, but that's for the future) -1 output to go to a mixer channel -another output to route maschine on would be nice but not required. I asked an ableton instructor what he would recommend and he said I was a fool if I didn't get FireWire, but I believe I'm going to go for a USB interface to keep the cost down. I really have no idea what I should pick. | |

Nereida Jasnoch 17.04.2013 | Would the USB 2.0 on the komplete audio struggle with 4 things coming in on quarter inch and 4 things going out on quarter inch all at the same time ? I've heard that 2.0 is just fine up until you start sending more than 2 or 3 things around. |

Alphonso Deitchman 15.04.2013 | The Audio 2 is a great little card. 2 hybrid line/headphone outs, gain dials for each, decent sound quality, and way more volume than you'd ever need. And its name isn't based on how many mono outputs it has.. |
nayit ruiz jaramillo 15.04.2013 | Ooh no the Audio 2 is excellent value for money. The outs are exactly what they say they are. I have used mine in internal and external mode and it's crystal clear. You have to be very harsh to criticise the Audio 2 even if it is made of plastic and as small as pack of cards. Is the 10th out yet? I can't find a price. |

Ned Somerset 15.04.2013 | offtopic, But Im looking to trade somebody my like new Komplete Audio 6 for their Traktor audio 6. Didn't figure out that the komplete audio 6 doesn't support timecode until it was too late. Dammit. |

Nereida Jasnoch 15.04.2013 | Really impressed with the komplete audio and the focusrite so far. The price point and features are ideal. The focusrite is pretty cool because it has a FW port and comes with FW to thunderbolt cable. And I like the complete audio because of it's sturdy case. |

Since you're using a Xone 92 you cannot make use of the digital outs of the Komplete Audio 6, so that leaves you with only 2 stereo outputs. The Audio 8 DJ on the other hand has 4 stereo outputs, in addition to meeting all your studio requirements. Only problem is it's discontinued so you'd have to buy one used. Edit: The Saffire Pro 24 would also fit nicely; it has Firewire and a volume dial for your monitors. |
