What does Sync enable YOU to do? Posted on: 22.04.2013 by Doreen Schurle So here's a question which has been floating around my mind for a little while; for those of you who use Sync on a regular basis, what SPECIFICALLY does it let you do that you wouldn't/couldn't do when beatmatching manually? In order to avoid this turning into one of "those" threads, here are some quick and simple tips with regards to contribution. People who should contribute to this thread:

Anyway, with all that out of the way, I'll kick things off Personally, the most significant thing I find using Sync enables me to do is drop a track with the channel fader UP, as I know that with properly prepared beatgrids, it won't sound "off". VERY useful for bringing in a drum beat into track B, right when the break in track A occurs. Anyone else? | |

Matt Kane 23.04.2013 | i use the sync-function a lot since i love to do transitions with tracks that have totally different bpms. like from 130 up to 180 or from 180 up to 220 (110) and so on. |
Zachery Eenigenburg 23.04.2013 | I only use Sync when layering techno with 4 decks+, i would would never use sync for A-B mixing. I have 2 cdj 2000 nexus and i have tried the sync to check if its as tight as traktor (which it isn't) and found it easier to use my ears. So imo using sync for 2 decks is just lazy there is enough time to choose, cue and beat match 1 track. |
Janyce Henningson 23.04.2013 | Let's be honest people use it because it's easy. I know I do. Anyone who says different either post an example of what you do with all your spare time or tell the truth. |
Alphonso Deitchman 23.04.2013 | I'm asking for examples of how people here make use of sync. How does that imply that I should be the one to provide such examples? |

Ervin Calvery 22.04.2013 | @makar1 It seemed to be exactly what you ordered. Is that mix not something that sync enables one to do? |

Reason is quant along with sync allows you to drops right... I enjoy traktor for quant like really quant is what you really are taking advantage of. Sync is only partially useful:.. You can layer tracks and cue jump without sync as long as quants on. Turn off quant and try it then try sync without quant. Snaps a really useful tool if you have the patience a to manipulate it lots. |

Malka Wickerham 22.04.2013 | I'd say the most useful reason to use sync is for looping and beat synced effects like delay. Maybe helping you drop a track at exactly the right time as well with quantized cues and loops. |
Lashay Walchak 22.04.2013 | I've been doing quite a bit 4 deck mash-ups where A & B are down-tempo instrumentals and C & D are 4band/XOne EQ made Hip-Hop acapella. I'll Sync A & C to adjust both decks tempo simultaneously to then manually launch the next instrumental waiting in Deck B with or w/o sync, sometimes immediately into the next acapella in D w or w/o sync. |

Kellie Myrum 22.04.2013 | Honestly I believe it wasn't the best. I couldn't grid all my tracks perfectly in sync and needed to bend a little in a while to keep them in beat. Pro fixed it. |

The tune that out of my whole library will fit most well into the mix and fit where I want the set to go. 2) Gives me more time to do the best mix I'm capable of. I was going to write, smooth, but that's not always true. Sometimes you want to bang it in, and you can do that because as someone else mentioned, you can drop on cue with the volume up. That's cool! 3) Do more creative stuff like mix in accapellas, samples etc. I never do any of this stuff because I am laaaazy and also because I'm focused on 1) and 2). I like having the option there though. And sometimes I do do it. That shit was impossible when I was doing normal beat matching on 1210s. |

Leon Albornoz 22.04.2013 | Sync enables me to have a free Midi button so I can map it to anything I want |
