Vocal Posted on: 13.01.2009 by Brooke Grudowski Hi all, was wondering where would be the best place to find Acapella's and Instrumental pieces? I've checked some free sites out but they limit you to a certain amount in a month. I'm after pieces popular music I guess, I've checked out some of the Acapella's on Beatport and they're cool, but I wanna mess around with something more mainstream to mix with.Hope this makes sense! Cheers . | |

Earl Ancelet 23.01.2010 | I'm sorry I didn't see this thread months ago. Has anyone heard of ccMixter which is sponsored by the Creative Commons? Blurb:
ccMixter is a community music site featuring remixes licensed under Creative Commons where you can listen to, sample, mash-up, or interact with music in whatever way you want.
This license lets others distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon your work, even commercially, as long as they credit you for the original creation. This is the most accommodating of licenses offered, in terms of what others can do with your works licensed under Attribution.

Belen Wermes 20.12.2009 | there's an amazing thread at www.audionews.ru about acapellas. go get it, i aint gonna spoon feed you it. but trust me that shit is diamonds, worth the hunt! |
Josefina Morandi 19.12.2009 | Hi Guys this is what I did after searching this community
and reading this thread! I mucked around putting the Invert utility and the 200% method utility in both the track and the master! I ended up putting it in the master with the 200% finding best results! Only some parts are vocals only the rest is very slight instrumental, no drums and only slight vocals! Thanks for the help guys I'm assuming not every song is the same and some may get better results that others! when the male vocals comes in its clear and isolated heaps good! This was an mp3 file btw whether that matters? |

Deedra Lluch 06.07.2009 | Btw the song is great! |
Deedra Lluch 06.07.2009 | Oh ok... But how do some of you insert a vocal in another song thats what i want to now? I heared 1000 of mixed songs like that just like the mix from Ean Gold - d.a.n.c.e |
gilbert hatem 06.07.2009 | I've been able to let MCs go over the music if I cut the mids 25%-ish. But you can still hear the vocals a bit. |
Roberto Viccione 06.07.2009 | You, um... can't do that. You need to either get a capella tracks (just vocals) or instrumentals (no vocals). You can try to EQ the vox or music out but it never really works that well. |
Deedra Lluch 06.07.2009 | Hi guys! I'm a newbie here...So can anyone explain me how i turn off the vocal in traktor or musik in the background! Plz help! |
Trần Trung 11.06.2009 | For most of the popular music, I would use a website called http://www.worksessions.com just it costs 19 dollars a month for upto 5GB's of downloading which is cool and mostly all the music has the clean/street/vocal only/instrumentals with them. Just sign up and you can look for yourself. Also you can also check out http://www.jamglue.com and search their database of music, then there is http://www.greenhitz.com and this is more of Rap/hiphop and R&B site that posts new music. Then you have good ole google just search for the songs and you might get lucky, I know I have alot! |
Delmer Schoenick 10.06.2009 | Thanks - these are great |
Freida Culvert 08.06.2009 | you could try www.soundarea.org you will need to join but its free and they have a large acapella section good luck |
Homer Chavarin 06.06.2009 | This thread rules...I've used subtraction in digital image processing for years, but for some reason never thought of applying the same techniques to audio. *smacks forehead* |

Adena Charman 26.05.2009 | Rapidshare has plenty too. http://rapidlibrary.com/ Edit: Just looked through acapellas4u.co.uk and that's probably a better bet, there are some gems on there. |
Diogo Ribeiro 26.05.2009 | An easy way to do centre channel extraction in Ableton is to use the utility plugin and set the stereo to 200% - voila instant Acapella. Extraboy is a cheap $15 plugin that does the same thing but in a bit more advanced way. Doesn't always work, but sometimes it does. I used it on "I want to break free" on the 72 project. Another secret is to get hold of 5:1 DVD's and extract the vocal from the centre channel - there are some Elton John DVD's that Aggro1 got his from. Check out his DNB Mashups btw. Some of them kick some serious ass. Of course there's remix competitions, torrents and if you're in the know - CD's from people in the media. I have quite a few hard to find instrumentals from bands like placebo and kaiser chiefs which i couldn't part with as they were given to me under an oath of extreme secrecy. p.s. Rock band is also your friend, ahem. |
Cristian Carmona 26.05.2009 | +1 on the invert effect |
Xavier Emanuels 26.05.2009 | Giving a quick look though this thread this wasnt mentioned so ill do it now. If you have the instrumental of a track then you can use the audio invert feature in Ableton or any other daw, then mix this signal with the original song with the vocals and you will be left with a capella. This audio invert basicly works though the cancelation effect created by mixing a inverted version of a track with an original version of the track. Anything that is identicle in the track will be subtracted from the output leaving only differences in the track, in this case thats the vocals. As long as the two versions of the track are perfectly identicle (bit for bit) to one another with the only difference being the material that you want to isolate then this method works flawlessly. Filtering methods should only be used when you cant get a capella from a 5.1 rip or you cannot use this method to isolate a capella. Another interesting thing you can do if that if you have a capella is that you can invert the audio of the capella and mix it with the original track w/vocals to leave the instumental for that track that you can mix with. All hail the holy invert effect ! |

Franke NU_Energy_Events 06.03.2009 | accapellas4u - free webmail addresses have been banned great, how the hell am I meant to register when I don't have an ISP email addy? |
Steeve Lauritano 02.03.2009 | A lot of bootleg vinyls have acapellas on them. Like whitelabel remixes of tracks in my experience have every now and then included an acapella so you can remix the track yourself (I'm assuming that is the intention). There are also acapella compilations on vinyl too that I've found. And my fav of the moment, T&A Breaks Vol 1 and 2 (Tittsworth and Ayres). |
Hannes Deburchgraeve 01.03.2009 | I found that VST I used to isolate vocals. It's called Extra Boy Pro. Give it a try. It actually works quite well. |
Andy Cavelli 01.03.2009 | A quick search on mininova or piratebay turns up nuff results... Also Noah down at Hot Wax Records in Ybor Florida usually has a nice stack of 12"' acapella plates in the back room, give him a shout (813)248-6999. Alternatively the shops myspace is here: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...ndID=198748764 |
Yuonne Cauthron 14.01.2009 | http://www.videohelp.com/tools/DVD_Audio_Extractor it saves the channels as seperate wav files. edit: I've used this method to pull a depeche mode capella. |
