I got a set on thursday evening , laptop went down on me yesterday!

Installed Traktor Pro 2 ( and s2 drivers and everything ) on my brothers laptop, and ASIO4ALL (which is what I normally select as my audio device on my own computer) , and the sound isn't coming out of the laptop speakers!

Help?

Nah, that's the "File is corrupt or DRM protected" issue with the red flashing status bar, where the track won't even LOAD into the deck.

You're assuming he has control over all the variables.

The lack of playback when you press Play with a track loaded is almost always a sound card issue. Reselecting the correct sound card, checking output routing, or reconnecting the sound card can sometimes fix it.

glad you guys have my back. I feel bad for him. I thought the S2 was truly "plug and play"

I thought Traktor would make the S2 feel right at home.

Nah it actually isn't......unless things have changed in versions 2.5 and above it does exactly this

There's a bug with Traktor where SOMETIMES - for some reason - the transport controls stop working. I have NO idea why it does it, only that it occasionally happens with pretty much every controller I've ever used, including HID ones like the S2/S4 and CDJs.

To fix it, I usually mess with the jogwheels while hitting a cuepoint, and usually that frees it up.

play button glows but track doesn't start. oh no.

Did you restart the computer ?

Make sure the audio output routing is correct.

channels 1 and 2 for monitor

channels 3 and 4 for master

So i took loverockets hint, and went to sound check today

I select Kontrol S2 (Asio) as my audio device! Everything on the controller works, except for the tracks won't start....? I turn the filter and gain knobs and I see the feedback in traktor, but when I hit play on my S2, the play button glows in traktor, but the track doesn't start....

Ok if you insist on using ASIO4ALL and still want to use the laptop speakers for home then you need to go into the ASIO4ALL control panel and configure it so that the monitoring is on the S2 headphone output jack is on one channel and the other channel has the laptops soundcard. Select the corresponding channels in Traktors audio output section.....done. Obviously you will have to re-configure when you get to the gig

An RCA to 3.5mm adapter removes the need to ever use the laptop sound card.

You have a $100 soundcard in the S2 and a $14 soundcard in the laptop.

ok Mr. DJ, which do you want to use?

Should be something like Asio L and Asio R set to your master output.

Probably "High Definition Audio" or "Realtek HD" or something along those lines in the Audio Setup. It'll have WASAPI or WDM next to it in brackets. ASIO4ALL has to specifically be configured for each system, so if you haven't configured it, it won't work.

What sound cards do you have available in the drop-down menu in Traktor's Audio Settings?

It would be much simpler to connect speakers directly to the S2.

Don't ask questions, I need answers haha!

I use it like that for at home use, and its not really a gig, its for a school drama production and every year I do it, they plug in the speakers right into my computer!

I just need to get the sound coming out of my laptop as for now!
Gigs, I always play out of the S2, but I get lag sometimes, just someone please!

How the hell do I get it coming out of my brothers laptop speakers
Doreen Schurle

Firstly, if you're using an S2, why do you want the sound to come out of your laptops speakers?

And if you're using an S2, why are you using ASIO4All?
