Are there any flight cases that hold a mixer + X1?
Posted on: 19.04.2011 by Clyde Gundelach
i'm trying to figure out a way to get everything mobile, and the biggest component that is lacking some kind of storage is for the X1. i have the gig bag, but it only goes so far. there seems to be no way for me to find a 12" mixer + X1 into a flight case. i thought about getting a 19" mixer flight case and just foaming it up to accomodate the X1, but i am seeking better options.

any ideas?

I believe parts-express.com has some of the parts... I saw the corners, latches and handles but cant remember seeing any of the extruded rails.

Pretty much. It's built using 6mm birch ply, and aluminium extrusion.

Maybe I should add, I'm lucky enough to build flight cases for a living

Hello people,
Maybe the case looks cheap on the picture, but i believe it s quality. I have a zomo case for 2 years now and i am happy with it. I am on the road with it twice a week. I can recommend it. The quality is nice, everything was build clearly, also i like the cable ducts

a Xone 4D case would work for a mixer and one X1. You would just have to add some foam spacers.

I happen to be blessed witha local road case company. Hot Rod Road Cases out of Trumensburg NY, I'd touch base with the local music shops and clubs and see if they could recomend a builder

I'm mid build on something similar.

I'm left handed so will putting my X1 on the left, ddm on the right,
my laptop has its own customised case with PS and HD and soundcard built in, also going in the mixer case is my radio mic. I always do this, no point spending on equipement and then not investing on a flight case to look after your goodies as you go out gigging.

This is a very similar issue to what I've been believeing about. Only main (STUPID) question is can you buy a non-glide style coffin and just use your own laptop stand? (They slide under your mixer, right???) .........perhaps I should just start a thread of my own.

Im sorry guys, but MODDING an original case is possibile but MAKING one is a tough job, especially for all the parts that go into a flight case (quality one).

So far the best thing for me is this case for my Ecler 4.0, it has space for A8 and cabling inside, I also thought of crafting some usb ports on the back of it to have it all nice and clean. In the end having this type of setup is the best for being both mobile and club since the x1s have their own cases.

Id say ill end up doing a custom one eventually, but id hate the thought of my setup being fixed, the 4 components my setups consists of can move aroung and be put anywhere, so there is no fixed layout, would merely just be for transport which I believe a bag is easier...

I know there are a fair number of companies out there that do custom flight cases

Not really, over here a sheet of 4 ft by 8 ft ply which. Is 18mm works out about 20 euro, so with screws and all prob 40 euro, just takes time get an upholster to cover it for like a 10er and for 50 quid you have a one of a kind case. If you have any carpenter friends they might help, even lend you power tools.

@dj stifffy.
hmmm, i am not sure if it would be that easy. Maybe if you are a prof. craftsman. And isn t it more expensive if you build it by yourself?

Why not make your own, custom cases are easy to make with some mdf, a saw some screws,filler and spray paint..

@khemfusion
this could work!!! and looks dope for sure. But get sure, contact the guys from zomo and ask them if the x1 would fit! and the mixer, too
Please post a picture when u got it

Could it do? I measured that the x1 + bag is exactly the size of a cd, in the middle you place a 12" mixer with space for A8 ecc.......

Just a thought...

this is my current solution, which I posted a couple of weeks ago. This would involve me getting the Odyssey Glide Style coffin case.

and of course a novation twitch lol.

I have been searching for this same exact thing

i'm looking for something similar to this if i had to buy individual flight cases for my decks

but this mount only does 12" (and 10" according to the pic). If there was a fully adjustable "bridge" like this one that goes out to as much as 19", i would be all over it. since a mixer + x1 does not equal 19" in width, it would be nice for it to be fully adjustable to have that snug fit. i'm not exactly ready to put down money on a 19" case for my 12" mixer to find out that it wont fit and look properly (e.g. too much foam).
