The Psychedelic Thread
The Psychedelic Thread Posted on: 06.08.2009 by Latoria Kavulich I thought i'd get something started as there are a few of the enlightened in here that like Psytrance etc, so lets get the ball rolling here trippers. Here's goa gil ranting on from the movie last hippie standing, which i have a copy off actually | |
Irwin Ney 06.01.2010 | Hey Jester! thanks for the Hoffmanium 4 |
Sherika Lasee 06.01.2010 | 17 years young, 72 hours of sleep abandonment, a 32oz of Smirnoff Ice, bottle of vitamin C tablets, jug of orange juice, & bag full of bathtub grown mushroom cap's, what'd you do spring break '03?! haha bathtub grown & things still tasted like grew off a cows craps' crap/// |

Latoria Kavulich 06.01.2010 | Nope. we live to serve you guys |
Roberto Viccione 05.01.2010 | You mean there's a world outside of the USA and it matters? |
Latoria Kavulich 05.01.2010 | strange game, not as strange as the WORLD series tho, but thats another story eh |
Lilliana Perris 05.01.2010 | If you can throw....tackle big.....or kick.....you can be in the NFL. Even our real retarded OLD flyhalf Naas Botha made a showing at the NFL. Kicking.....thats ALL......but he was there! |
Latoria Kavulich 05.01.2010 | Actually i believe he did get scouted for the NFL at one stage |

Latoria Kavulich 04.01.2010 | Bet those players would believe twice before getting tackled by a 130 kilo Maori with no pads on |
Roberto Viccione 04.01.2010 | Hey, it confuses the shit outta me too But I don't need to pay attention to win the $1000 |
Latoria Kavulich 04.01.2010 | superbowl eh lol i went to a game in LA as a kid, confused the shit outa me |
Roberto Viccione 04.01.2010 | I've had luck with a few labels. I'm hoping to win the Superbowl pool we got going so I can afford new Psy. That's my next big purchase |
Latoria Kavulich 04.01.2010 | Yeah you gotta watch the track selections on comps these days. A few years ago if you were a bit short on tracks then comps were the way to go, but not so much now. Thats why i stick to a few well knwn labels that i know always put out quality. Its easy with Goa as there's pretty much only two labels right now anyway, as its just creeping back, suntrip and phototropic The twisted stuff is always class, as is TIP World, althooough i did get the new white album and thre were a couple of "what the fuck, electro" tracks in there lol. |
Roberto Viccione 04.01.2010 | It's very true. I believe it's the case with most genres of music. It amazes me, though, when I load in a 10 minute track, and it's literally just 32 measure sections, the same drum sounds and bass line for 8 of those minutes with a 2 minute breakdown of a cheesy synth line, and someone deemed this worthy of being put on a compilation. |
Latoria Kavulich 04.01.2010 | Yeah i definitely curb toward the more melodic side, always have. Its gotta be fat like a motherfucker, but i stilll like a bit of structure, melody etc. Of course there is a LOT of shit out there these days as more producers jump on the bandwagon, ya just gotta dig dig dig to find those gems! |
Roberto Viccione 04.01.2010 | Sarasin, I agree wholeheartedly in regards to music. That, in my mind, is what is lacking the most from a lot of EDM. It's all about the hook, not the actual music behind it. But that's why I've been digging into Prometheus. There is definitely something more interesting going on in there. |
Lilliana Perris 04.01.2010 | What i find lacking in Psy is the musical aspect. I mean real music. Not something catchy like a ringtone.... Something thats shelf life is longer than three months. Its melody and structure...sure. But so much is copy paste....formula. |
Lilliana Perris 04.01.2010 | Thats your opinion mate.... Its not however true as Psychedelic is something subjective. Meaning that its different for each individual. I have been into it for 15 years and have gone through there phases where i felt the same. Then i started listening again...without drugs...and really listened some more. I found that what i found psychedelic is the producers hand....not the sounds. The way he moulds the sound to have a certain flow. Some wild sounds....some really controlled. The layers used. Basically the production. As you say...i too have heard pretty much all the sounds and shit used over the years. So you need to look for quality producers who can push past that. Explore a bit more my friend....you will find some gems amongst that cheese. In my opinion....there are but a handful in the scene. |
Wilford Bakalian 04.01.2010 | what kills me is i find nothing "psychadelic" about any psy-genre EDM. i've been using psychadelics heavily for years and when i listen to psytrance/psydub/psybient it all sounds like cheesed out wankery. then you have music like idm/breakcore/post-rock that i believe are WAY psychadelic and i have an amazing time with under the influence. psy-stuff is just too damn easy to predict. when my mind is racing at 1000mph on acid, i want to put it USE. i want to test the full pattern recognition abilities that my brain has to offer. that's what psychadelics are about to me--pushing the limits of the mind towards a fuller potential. droning on that 4/4 with cheesy synthlines just doesnt cut it. check these under psychadelics: edit - crying over pros for no reason aesop rock - labor days mu-ziq - lunatic harness explosions in the sky - all of a sudden i miss everyone |
Latoria Kavulich 04.01.2010 | Haha damn wildlife Yeah i've had a jam on final scratch but not with traktor scratch pro as yet. good onya, thats gotta freak some of the old crew out eh. Man i'm really looking forward to this collab mix mate. Haven't had much of a mix for a few weeks this is why i've been scanning psyshop etc. I'd like to play all new shit but we'll see what happens. |
Lilliana Perris 04.01.2010 | Man.....i had fun last evening
. I installed Deckadance (so i can use my TC vinyls) and was jamming Damage on vinyl! Man oh man! Was soo cool mixing on vinyl again! I should play a NASTY ASS set on vinyl at a party sometime. You always hear people here saying, " You never see vinyl DJ's at a trance party anymore". Then ogle the older DJ's who used to play Psy on vinyl.....and see then go green when i play the LATEST trax. HEHEHEHEHHE. Yay for TIMECODED VINYLS!!!! |
Lilliana Perris 04.01.2010 | GET IT! They are one of my top fav's! Rock out sooooo bad ass! The Dealers is the best album for me! Disrespekt is THE track on it! Killed the floors here......TOTALLED! The peacock....yeah.... A mate of mine rocked up at the bush party (on a farm) in a mini cooper. a Bottle Green one. Was not his......not even a friends....just someones that he needed to look after! There were loads of farm animals etc on THIS farm. The next morning\afternoon (when he was done partying) he got to the car and the one side had many lil dents in it and scratches and blood etc. After a long head scratch.......we figured out that it was the peacock. It has seen itself in the cars reflection and thought it was another male or something. Fucked the car up royally! True story! |
Latoria Kavulich 04.01.2010 | "incident" lol do iwanna know. Hey saw that twisted system album in psyshop, might pick it up only 20 bucks eh |
Lilliana Perris 04.01.2010 | HAHAHAHA No...just been woken by a family of scuffeling pot-bellied pigs! Also had a Peacock incident too.... |
Latoria Kavulich 04.01.2010 | Ahh but have you woken up to a sheep licking your sack at a bush party lol |
Lilliana Perris 04.01.2010 | Man....that was SOO awesome now that you mention it! I have seen dolphins on TV and shit but never in real life. So I was playing my set and the sun was just coming up. I finished up and exit the Dj TENT and look out at the sea and lit my bifta. Only to see a school of dolphins playing in the surf! Was epic! |
