Stench coming from audio-cables
Stench coming from audio-cables Posted on: 02.07.2013 by Trula Willadsen Can't really find any useful info concerning this topic so I'm hoping some of you might have some experience with this because I can't seem to find a solution.I have DAP audio cables (XLR to jack, xlr to rca, splitters, mergers, etcetera) and most of them are giving off an incredible stench. It's not only the cables as I have an iPhone sleeve with a wide-angle lens fitted to it which gives off the smell just as bad. It's actually to the point where it get physically ill from smelling it (it makes me nauseous) and I'm starting to feel I can't justify bringing the bag to public places such as trains or busses. Does anyone have a solution? I'm afraid that if I'd replace all cables (which would be an expensive joke) the stench will probably come back again. Can I was the cables? I have tried a spray you use for smelly shoes etcetera, sadly to no avail... | |

Dannie Dimora 03.07.2013 | I once left a whole bag of organic trash on the backseat of our car for an entire week (we went to the seaside with friends) Needless to say, the bag was leaking its rotten juices. We had to throw away one of the seats in the car.. Now lock it up! |
Yong Aptekar 03.07.2013 | Banana inside a heating vent in the house. Brilliant Karlos. Lock er down, archive this jazz. |
Lilliana Perris 03.07.2013 | You toss a dead fish, under someones car seat....while they not watching. Then after a few days....its lovely inside that car. Good trick. |

Brunilda Kora 03.07.2013 | Before we lock the thread, I just need to stress that playing tarp and tarnce will have similar, but more pronounced effect on your cables. You seem to have had a lucky escape by finding rotten meat in your bag. |
Augustine Mitzen 03.07.2013 | Sulfur acid should do the trick |
Lilliana Perris 03.07.2013 | WOOOT! I was number 2! So was the bag.... |

nayit ruiz jaramillo 02.07.2013 | SUGGESTION: to the other Mods. We create a 'Hall of Fame' sub community
and threads like this are closed at their peak and archived in the hall of fame. This is the funniest thread in a long time. The more it goes on the less funny it will become (let's face it someone will fall out with someone else). It's a classic, lets preserve it for future generations. |

Len Lukawski 02.07.2013 | up.jpeg Baking soda. Go buy a massive box of baking soda, empty it into the offending compartment and leave it for a week or two. Really pack that baking soda in there. IF THAT DOESN'T WORK: Take more (fresh baking soda) and mix it with equal parts Pinesol and Hydrogen Peroxide. You want it to be like a very wet paste. Work the paste into the (still) offending compartment and leave to dry. Then vacuum it out. Unfortunately, as it's a bag, you'll likely have some residual powder left in the compartment for a good while to come. It will eventually sort itself out. Don't ask me how I know all this shit. |
Dannie Dimora 02.07.2013 | This will become a meme in this community
s.. As someone suggested, before washing or drycleaning, try freezing it. Or order some ln2 (it's frickin cheap) and put it in a bath of it, then cover it with styrofoam. |

Emelina Chillson 02.07.2013 | I will not ask why or how you never noticed the meat or washed your bag. Im gonna go ahead and guess you plus shower doesnt happen much. j/k take a bit of lemon, crush it, mix it in with a little bit of fabric softener and water. Scrub every inch of your bag vigorously, and hang dry. After dried dunk in a bath of warm (not hot) water and wash. Hang dry once more. After drying mix any type of citrus fruit and water in a spray bottle. Spray down the bag inside and out and let it sit in the sunlight. This is what I had to do to my clothes when I worked on a dairy farm. Always did the trick. Worked on skunk too. Good luck. |
Danae Dumler 02.07.2013 | Sell the meat on ebay |
Javier Rowinsky 02.07.2013 | bahahahahahah this is hilarious. FEBREEEZE DAT SHIT DOWGGG |
Trula Willadsen 02.07.2013 | Sorry guys, really was a serious question. However, I've found out in the meanwhile I had a bit of meat (to put on sandwiches) in the front pocket. Been there for two months. Guess it's safe to say I won't be eating that anymore.. Anyone an idea how to properly clean the bag? A handwash didn't do the trick just yet... |
Yong Aptekar 02.07.2013 | I believe you sir, have stink bag. |

Marcelina Hanaway 02.07.2013 | Idiot comment removed |
Lannie Kutay 02.07.2013 | might just be that "plastic" smell....which sadly in this modern age is just something we have to get used to. |
Gaynell Rydberg 02.07.2013 | Any chance that you gigged with these and they just got disgusting from the clubs? It sounds like an environmental reason if your iPhone case is also smelling. |
