Is there a term for this music/genre yet?

That. It seemed to start with Nari & Milani's Atom and Jewelz & Scott Sparks Toxic, I've heard a few others in recent months but no names. Everyone calls it prog house but it's not, and I'm not searching through every prog house song ever to find these things because I absolutely DESPISE prog house and cut+paste massacre it has become. Surely there must be a term floating round now for these kind of tracks?

Tubular Bellcore?

Blue Man Groupstep?

Seriously though it's been pretty freaking ridiculous watching this blow up. A year ago Will Sparks was a tiny Melbourne DJ playing in back rooms, the guys done something right..
Hehe, I'm sure living in Australia is quite different from just visiting. All I remember was the absolutely awesome weather in Cairns, feeding kangaroos and wallabies, and holding koalas. Oh and all the friggin beautiful women everywhere!

we can give you human nature back if you want...(i kid, i actually quite like those guys from sydney. nice and funky motown sounds).

Yeah I'll just get on the phone and tell him, we all know each other.
There is so much good music coming out of Australia at the moment, it kinda sucks this is the stuff getting the praise.. Artists and Labels like Pilot Records, Oisima, Darius B, Untz Untz Untz, Jamie Stevens, Late Nite Tuff Guy etc etc are doing amazing things.

Dissociatives weren't too shabby but what i'd give for another Avalanches album....

Itch-e and Scrach-E did a live tour last year. Was really really good. Paul Mac has a bit of an obsession with pop music these days though.

Anyway I'm completely de-railing this thread. Apologies.

Melbourne Sound or Melbourne Bounce seems to be the name most people in Melbourne are using..

Consider it... Rerailed. Re-railed? Underailed. Just railed?

I'm absolutely aware of how the majority of these tracks are "identikit bangers", so to speak. Honestly if I had to listen to an hour set of this stuff I'd want to throw myself of a bridge. But, the effect sneaking one of these drops in has on the crowd is phenomenal, and as a working DJ this is the stuff that gets me paid haha.

But yeah since I posted this yesterday I must have listened to roughly 80 tracks that fit the description, yet only downloaded 5 or so and bought one. That Cango is a monster, and I just found one that almost left me paraplegic, not Tubular Bellcore (that should totally be the term) but it'll do the job!

Also, not to do any kind of self-promotion (well maybe a little :P) the latest mix i have on SC is also full of these plucky stuff, check it out if you want

Melbourne House. Nice to know the real genre.

I've just considered it House/Hardstyle

I'd say this is Electro House, Bigroom... ever since Sandro Silva & Quintino - Epic and Nari & Milani - Atom came out, all these mainstream producers have been doing similiar stuff:

Similar to Epic (if not the same): Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike & Wolfpack - Ocarina (Bodybangers Remix), Knife Party - LRAD, also there are a lot of tubular bell electro house tunes that remind of epic (Hit it, turn it up, animals...)
Similar to Atom: Hard Rock Sofa - Rasputin, Ti

Listen to this:

https://soundcloud.com/daleri/epic-mashleg

It's a one minute mashup of 15 Beatport charted tracks that was made to mock how most Beatport Top100 tracks sound remarkably similar, but you might be able to get something useful out of it. On a totally unrelated note, he's right and the mashup is pretty hilarious.

See "dutch" and "Dirty Dutch" are also terms I hear a lot but some of that stuff just sounds like standard Electro House to me. There should be a genre police who decide and if you mess up they come around to your house and... Break your knees or something.
