I've got around the same amount in 320kbps MP3s, but only a VERY small amount of that is actually in my DJ library.

2TB is only about 200,000 tracks at 320kbps.

Well if it matters much of it is flac 24/96, so that takes up loads of space compared to regular mp3s

I have 20k on my harddrive. I am a mobile DJ and have to be ready for all kinds of request.

I am a mobile DJ. I have more music than I can ever listen to. It's eff'in ridiculous. I "find" a TON of good music in my own collection when I take the time to actually dig for it. I actually need to buy more furniture to store CDs before I buy more CDs!!!!

My DJ Hard drive has about 4-5K
I actually need to delete some of the stuff its getting cluttered. And i have around 1000 CDs and 400 Vinyls.

as far as legally acquired music goes i'd hazard a guess and say around 1500-2000,
maybe 700 of those burned for DJing

For DJing purposes; about 6000-7000 records, but stopped buying and went fully digital about 6 years ago, collected over 18 years or so. Digitally, in the late 1000's - I've amassed digital music much quicker than vinyl/cd's because of the cost being significantly cheaper and I've ripped a fair amount of vinyl/cds from my collection.

I have around 3500 on my DJ laptop of witch maybe 1500 are hits or popular songs from 70's to 2000. Every now and then I delete songs from my laptop. I do have a whole lot more songs on my iMac and external drives. Also have a massive collection of vinyls and CD's stored away. I have somewhere around 3-400 songs in playlists that I use regular at gigs and is what I consider my DJ library

A really fast internet connection.

In my DJing iTunes library, though, I have about 2000 tracks. When I first started playing progressive house, I only had about 100 tracks, but that's all I needed. If you're not taking requests, you can get away with having a LOT less music.

20+ years of collecting. I still have boxes of cd's i've never gotten round to ripping.

Specifically for DJ'ing, I have around 7,000 (digital) and a couple of hundred vinyl. I've been collecting music for about 20 years, and amassing a digital collection for about 10 years

Quality not quantity - that can't be stressed enough. I don't believe I've ever ripped a whole album for DJ'ing (EXCEPT some of Michael Jacksons albums!!!)

You're much better off having 100 records that you know inside and out, than 1,000 that you don't know well. Unless you're a mobile jock taking requests at 18ths and Diamond Wedding Anniversaries...

By inside and out, I mean you have to know every word, every break, every intro/outro off by heart. And the truth is, it shouldn't take ANY extra effort to learn each track. If you are oracticing enough, you'll learn each track pretty much subliminally...

Enough to play for 150 days from what traktor says. Mostly full albums ripped from CDs. A lot of crap, really. Its the quality that counts, not the size of your penis... er um hard drive. Lol

800 digital files over three years that's only my traktor collection though.

I have 3000 over the last 2 years.

Fairly specific between genres and certain songs that I like in those genres.
