It's the perfect argument, they were not DJs, now they are triumphant DJs playing massive venues selling them out on their image and brand alone. It's simple to understand if you just stop picking at straws and believe about it.. Because you and I both know if it came down to who has the most talent none of them would even be allowed in the building.

I don't care how good anyone is, insulting other artists is as low as you can get. (except probably straight up stealing music coughwilliaintcough) You don't have to like what the others are doing, but this doesn't give you the rights to bash them. It just makes you look bitter and jealous.

As for Paris Hilton, she's not getting gigs because she has fans. She's getting gigs because Afrojack is supporting her. That's a whole different story. If people are enjoying themselves, good. If not, she probably won't keep getting gigs.

Same goes for Paris Hilton then, conquering the music industry. Same with snerps like Pauly D.. They're just good in their own sense, right? Lol come on, for acts that big it's just a fashion show. For guys like Troxler it's a slap in the face because they do it with true creativity and get a laughable amount of respect from these teeny boppers who now thing DJing as a whole requires nothing but a laptop thanks to these guys. He has a point, the point exists... You just don't see it because you don't have the slightest sense as to what an underground industry is out there in Florida, so you know nothing of guys like this except they hate the music your girlfriend likes.

I will admit, I'm getting a bit tired of shots fired. Have your opinion on the industry, just keep people's names out of your mouth. It's that simple. Even Sasha went there, and while I thought the comment was funny, I also found it uncharacteristic of the way he typically handles things and ultimately in poor taste. In his subsequent interviews, he was a little more reserved and less inflammatory but the message was already out there.

In case anybody doesn't know what I'm talking about.

Sasha on EDM
Sasha on commercialism
Sasha's more subdued take on EDM

Seth troxler is hilarious and a beast on the decks. I would love to see Avicii spin a 6 hour set with as much variety as he does. For clarification I've seen Avicii play both Lollapalooza & EDC Vegas and Seth at Wavefront, it wasn't very hard to figure out who had a much more interesting and fun set (hint, it wasn't avicii). If more people would leave their progressive/electro house bubble maybe they'd understand exactly what he was talking about in this video..

Biggy v Tupac got out of hand no doubt but NAS v Jay Z is clearly marketing beef.

Don't kid yourself that the hip hop beefs were any different. Bad Boy records milked that east coast west coast bollocks for all it was worth.

Calling someone out is an old skool hip hop / marketing tactic to gain fame / get people talking...

See anyone calling anyone out ever in the history of music

Biggy vs Tupac
NAS vs Jay Z
Robbie Williams vs Oasis
Cheryl Cole vs Lilly Allen

I'm right here baby, always watching, and I would just like to say I'm sorry if my views sometimes seem aggressive or not in line with what you feel on subjects, it's all just chat, we're all music fans just stating our own opinion on subjects and topics put in front of us...anywayyyyyy...

I'm with Karlos and you on this, far too often 'famous' DJs open their mouths, usually from frustration of seeing people gaining more success, money and fame than them, and try to say something 'real' that will make themselves feel good or their fanbase shout 'yeah Seth, you so underground baby, you so right' - this kid has been away from the game for years and now wants to come back and be relevant by bringing one of the most successful dance music artists of the last 5 years into his interviews.

The way I have lived is; you don't like something; f***ing do something about it.

Don't whine like a little girl.
Don't talk about how things are wrong.
Don't cry about how the game used to be so much better 'back in the day'.
Don't wear cowboy hats in interviews that you want to be seen as serious in whilst burping up chips and a frosty drink.

Where? In his own mind maybe.

In the UK dance music hit a MASSIVE peak in the late 90's it was the ONLY music played in bib clubs and high street clubs. It was HUGE through the 90's. The big new Indie scene took over for some time but dance music has recovered with chart dance and all that Avicii stuff.

...and the more underground (if you like) 'dance music scene' has never gone away at all. It changes and various genres come and go but it's always there.

Some of the worst crap I hear about music is spoken by 'famous' DJ's (i don't know that guy too much).

As for his views on Avicii... meh... I play a high street club on Fridays and Avicii fills the floor so I couldn't give a rats what he believes really.

Sounds like he was trippin' when he was interviewed.
I believe he's talking about the US... As for his views on Avicii, I would have been shocked if he liked him, considering the sound of Troxler's sets. He is entitled to have his opinion, whether Avicii fills dancefloors or not.

So he needed to move to Europe/Berlin to get known....and then takes a pot shot at Avicii.....yeah...right...

He's clearly talking about this from an American perspective. House music always has been "shunned" by the American market/media until recently. And I'm guessing when he said that he's been away for the the past 6 years he's talking about when he left the US to live abroad.

And I know he called out Avicii by name, but I believe he's taking aim at that whole "producer who doesn't know how to DJ" scene. The guy who show's up with a predetermined set list and doesn't know how to be fluid and flexible.

And yeah, he was voted #1 DJ this year according to RA, but the unique thing about that is if you look at his discography he really didn't have any tracks worthy of mention that were chart toppers, he did through straight gigging and being an actual DJ

I don't listen to Avicii, but how exactly is he the bad guy? What did he do that was so wrong? He produced some extremely popular dance music that apparently lots of people enjoy. That takes skills, regardless of his DJ abilities. Seems like the hipster thing to do is pick a popular DJ and and blame him for everything you believe is "wrong" with the current state of music. They are easy targets, but this shit is getting old.
