I can't get over the vinyl

I can't get over the vinyl!
I am dj since 98-99, I grew up with vinyl, I went to record stores... I played 30 records in one hour. I loved to browse my vinyl case. I have two releases on vinyl.

Tese days, record stores are closed, music is changed, no more vinyl releases...

Now I am a digital dj, I keep pushing buttons, I am good in that too, but i cant get used to digital stuff. Its like, soulless, plastic, unnatural for me.

I can't get over the vinyl!

Why would you honestly want two start stop buttons? Where are you supposed to put the 45 adapter anyway?

But REALLY nice 1210s.

I haven't downloaded any mp3's in about 3 months....I bought about 25 records in that timeframe though.

I'm done with mp3's. I still use them a bit, with TSP. But only early in the evening . once the place fills up, its back to vinyl.

Since I'm spending 10-15 dollars for a record, it's definatly going to be good, but paying 99 cents for an mp3 it is more likely garbage.

And, beatport sucks...so does stompy(albiet, a bit better). How many tunes has anyone downloaded from those sites and never play them? Sometimes, its a terrible tune, and sonically, it may sound like garbage too.

OP - I'm with you, man.

But you've gotta get a DVS system, mate!!!

Traktor 2 looks awesome. FS was not great at all, but it was the first.

You'll still miss the record shopping, but you get a whole new world of digital digging. Grab a drink, and hit the online record shops, blogs, artist pages, soundcloud, etc... You'll find LOADS of great tunes - free and paid.

Now is SERIOUSLY a great time to be a DJ. DVS for us old timers is super exciting. We can do everything that we always loved doing (ie - standing in front of turntables and a mixer) as well as getting involved in all the new stuff (midi/cuepoints/effects, etc...) - lots of fun!

I still enjoy spinning every now an then, but much prefer digital. I believe dvs is great for those who still like the hands on approach, but it doesn't really bother me.

I only converted to the digital way of believeing at Christmas, and only then to DVS. And only then so I could play my mp3's, as vinyl is indeed getting rarer and pricier!

But then I discovered DJTT and have since bought a Launchpad, MPK, midi mixer and much more! (Would have been cheaper to keep buying vinyl!), and I love it. But I'm never EVER selling my Technics. Ever.

One of my mates, DJing for many years, now in his mid 30s, actually slipped two discs by carrying vinyl all the time.

Love those black discs, but I also love having a functional spine.

I believe I chose the wrong community for this kind of story, since here ofcourse, everything is digital
Is there any nostalgic djs
Traktor 2 kicks the shit out of Final Scratch, far tighter, more flexible - it's far better (and you can slap a piece of vinyl and play in through the software should the mood take you ...)

i love playing my old vinyl when i can!! i enjoy it a LOT more than playing on a controller... but having said that, i still enjoy 'spinning' on controllers. and tbh i still play on cdj's more than anything else.

this is definitely not the wrong community !

anyone remember that stupid thing for scratch control on early cd players that used a wheel sat on the edge of a tt linked to the cdj? believe it was for a denon unit?

or the line adapter for tone arms?

come a long way aint it?
