I believe you'd find Crosstown Rebels/Infinity Ink would've given them permission for that... In exchange for a giant bag of cash and royalties. Hardly new, hardly Flo Rida or Pitbulls fault (I feel dirty sticking up for them, but they haven't exactly stole it)

That may well be true in some aspects, but time and time again, there is band wagon jumping by big labels and producers looking to tag along (to make money) with what has bubbled up from the underground scenes, this year it happens to be Deep House's turn. The problem is although we may get some quality tunes from someone like Tiesto (although I'm doubtful), the scene is often pillaged and left behind 12 months later. Thankfully those that have been a part of that particular scene for many years, in this case Deep House, will still be going strong in the underground in the future.

The current sound we're hearing has more nods back to early UK Garage and the more bumpier, US dub Soulful House tracks. Personally I believe it's great and fits in with what I would term more traditional Soulful & Deep House as mentioned earlier in the thread.

I've seen a lot of producers from other genres dabble in making Deep House in the last 6 months with mixed success. I believe those have been in to Soulful/Deep House can very easily spot someone who's just jumped in, you can tell in the production itself and the flow of the track.

In all honesty, so far it's not been too bad for the Deep House scene, even the tracks that have hit the Top40 have been credible, let's hope that continues.

While I don't believe the deep house community needs his credibility, I certainly hope they welcome it. Let's see what he brings to the table. He is definitly a world famous name and brand. But you are are only as good as your last record. I'll listen.

We always say... Dj's need to diversify....diversify. But when they do. Booooo hooooo..... I just wish Tiesto would still do trance, we was at his height then.

Suspect tiesto will go full circle and end up at some gray area between pro house an trance.... Miss days I good prog house fuck is settle for shitty prog house at that matter... Deep house in my mind brings thoughts of ambient and minimal house with a deep bassline but that is of course my ideal believeing of deep house... Sub genres are far to subjective in electronic music to be useful means I explaining to someone a particular sound

Stuff that's being played as deep house is still much too slow to be tech house though. Some elements are borrowed for sure, but still it's not the same i don't believe.

The thing everyone calls "deep house" is closer to techno, tech house (obviously) and garage than deep house.
