What is with MP3 Music Packs for sale on Ebay?
What is with MP3 Music Packs for sale on Ebay? Posted on: 29.08.2013 by Cammy Demos Hey Guys,I searched for this in the community s but didn't come across anything. What's the deal with Ebay sellers putting up collections of 100+ new house/tech/prog/etc. MP3s up for sale? It seems to me like this is illegal, but ebay doesn't pull it down. I always want to support the artist, so I am assuming I would never purchase these. I wanted to get some other peoples take on them. -Steve | |

But I did some research and most of the tracks were free download off soundcloud, or off Artist Facebook pages. Some were from music blogs. |

Delena Katherman 02.09.2013 | How does posting a list of free tracks promote "obtaining music in a questionable way"? It's the exact opposite. The Ebay seller doesn't even list the tracks, because he wants you to buy the pack from him rather than acquiring the individual tracks legitimately (or for free). This list actually allowed me to genuinely check out some of those artists on Soundcloud. And, like I said before, the post with the link to the actual Ebay auction is still in this thread! If anything, that should have been removed. Whatever. |

Lannie Kutay 30.08.2013 | im actually curious to see if anything shows up. Haven't received a DL link. But if might also come on cd, we'll see. I do not promote copyright infringement!!! I am betting I probably have every one of these tracks in my collection already. |
Libbie Orion 30.08.2013 | how about contacting the label and sending them a URL to the auction? that would probably get EBAY working on this really quickly |
Lannie Kutay 30.08.2013 | like $9 US |

Brunilda Kora 29.08.2013 | Illegal is a VERY interesting word. Suggest (if people are interested) they do some light reading on the difference when something is "legal" or "lawful". |

So the system is a little crooked. Big artists get lots, the smaller guys get f*ck all. |

Selling multiple copies of a track and not paying royalties is highly illegal....at least in America. You might be surprised to find out that all evening clubs are REQUIRED to pay ASCAP and BMI royalties for its dj's to be able to play tracks. (based on the number of people the club holds). |

Kristofer Krauel 28.08.2013 | I struggle with this discussion. Its not right but how is it any different to someone selling a crate of their vinyls? (there is a thread on this very community
and countless vinyl sales on ebay that dont get closed down or removed) I have a mate into northern soul and he buys 7" LP's on ebay all of the time and no-one bats an eyelid! Peoples opinion on piracy seems to be selective depending on the media in question. |
