Yup haha the owl was amazing a few years ago after it got a face lift, (would be at capacity before 10pm) but it has died down a little (as far as its regular evening
s go). Its the venue where I throw most of my parties, my buddies Drewski (the guy from the mixtape) and Ageless are residents there, both are GREAT DJs. I've booked a handful of DJTTers from other cities to come play there too!

when the booze is flowing may be the best bet.... But I'm far out of touch with scene in Regina so don't know maybe my thought is flawed... Sadly finding a good open format dj may be hard to do. I know recently I've decided to try to do open format and its taking some time and practice but believe will be nice when I get it down to a T.... Sadly I do kit enjoy the style of music as much as my electronic genres but maybe that's what half the challenge to myself is.
Recently recorded a 74minute attempt at open format blending rock pop rap county and Suprisingly a lot of the mixes weren't as bad as I thought they would be
Good insight. Most of our evening
s usually go that way. We start off with hip hop and get into house later on, usually end off a little heavy. As for headliners, the problem is that every time you bring a headliner into this city it is a labour of love. The fact is, people here just aren't that into electronic music and its expensive to bring headliners in. Although I've never lost money on a show, we make a lot less when we're bringing in an expensive headliner. It makes it difficult to justify the expense to club owners, business partners and hell even to myself at times.
Even the few locals who actually put release tracks/routines and tour find that they have bigger followings in other cities than in their own, its pretty weird haha |

I get what your saying, but I'd say there is a base of dedicated promoters, there just isn't much interest from the general populace (despite having a decently sized population). There are several promoters in the city who have thrown successful and sold out evening
s. The catch is, nobody comes out for the music, the headliner or for any type of event production quality; there isn't much of a evening

ha I had no idea infected mushroom ever came to regina (I've only been in Regina for a few years and I've been able to go to clubs for 2), that would never happen now haha when cosmic gate came here a year ago only 60 people showed. Same with tristan gartner, and a handful of other djs that have come threw. They tried bringing in aoki and even lost money on that. Reviving/creating is a scene here is going to be a hell of a task |

Live outside Regina about 45mins out.
Winter time I have a lot more free time summer is hit and miss with family and work at a JD dealership so seeding and harvest are busiest times of year.
I find it crazy that there even was a scene before in Regina. Talking to some of the older heads like flatland funk, I've heard some crazy stories about the old Regina scene. Apparently everyone just got too busy or moved away causing the scene die down into what it is today.
Its strange to hear how such a cool scene could just melt down to nothing. Has anyone else seen this in their cities? |

We're working really hard to build up the scene/culture in Regina (its pretty dry right now, as you probably already know haha). My friend just set up a dj lab and we're also planning on bringing in artists a lot more often. If your interested in being a part of something like that, we're always looking for helping hands. |

For my live sets it is basically all improv (I don't want to lose to spontaneity that you need to play a good dj set), however this recorded set was planned out completely.
As for the drummer, I sent him my audio file and he did a live recording on top of that in his studio. dude is an absolute beast, its insane to him at work |
Trista Karle 29.08.2013 | Check video bitrate on camtasia export? My guess is it around 3500k with 1280x720 set to 1920x1080 and encode bitrate around 8 to 12 will return better results also file format matters |

Janeen Tarricone 29.08.2013 | Awesome set BTW! |
Janeen Tarricone 29.08.2013 | Choosing the highest isn't the same thing as choosing 720p. If it is too high, YT will transcode it down to 720p (at a loss of quality). |

Lillia Datson 26.08.2013 | Wow, that was excellent. I didn't believe a lot could be done for house music in the finger drumming world, but this just proved me dead wrong.
Now i need to have a serious look at why i'm not using my kit like this! |

Would you mind giving just a little more explanation about how you mapped the slots? I don't quite understand what you mean by "mapping the slots in a vertical row". You mentioned that the previous sample cuts out the last one played, but isn't that how the F1 typically works anyway?
I would appreciate any insight. Once again, killer job.
Glad you enjoyed it man! As for the mapping, I'll to explain it a bit more clearly! Basically there are certain sections where I took a track or several tracks, chopped them into individual pieces and replayed them as something new. if you open up your f1, you can trigger 16 slots (4 in each row). If you have slot one in row one playing, clicking another button in row 1 will cut it off, however hitting a button in row 2 will not. You can normally hit the orange buttons at the bottom with your other hand to stop the previous row (which is what i did around 30 mins in my b2b with drew), but there are certain parts where I'm drumming with both hands and I'm not able to do that. Basically, one of the pages in the maschine is set up such that all the buttons are mapped to different slots in the same row (on different pages); it basically allows me to do what I described above with one hand instead of two, letting me add another layer of sound with my other hand. hopefully that makes sense, its alot more straight forward than it sounds

Yea man, due to sched conflicts we had to record drews part separate from the rest of the mix tape. That was probably for the best anyways, it would have been weird if his set up was sitting there unused for the whole video haha |

I'm using my own I have one page set just for regular finger drumming (set up exactly the way the f1s are); i just find it easier on my wrists to drum with the maschine. The other page however is mapped to each individual slot in a vertical row; What I mean by that is that the first four buttons are mapped to slots 1-4 in row 1 of the first page, the next row of buttons are mapped to slots 5-8 in the SAME row and so on. I mapped it like this so that the previous sample cuts the last one out when its played, its useful for the type of stuff I'm doing around 3 mins and 25 mins. It basically allows me to chop tracks into their individual beats (or take individual beats from different tracks) and play them in a rearranged manner as one song!
