Korg Nano Kontrol Traktor Setup
Korg Nano Kontrol Traktor Setup Posted on: 21.04.2009 by Graham Frazier I used this setup for a while, before i decided that ableton better suits my style/needs.It was a nice small setup. Scene 1 is shown, Scene two was setup for effects, and scene 3 was the same as scene 1, and scene 4 was set up for looping. I set it up with scene 1 and 3 the same so i could get back to my mix as quick as possible. Let me know what you believe. ...I know i put this in the wrong section. Sorry. | |

In my setup I made it so that the left is channel A, the right is channel B, and the middle is the "mixer". Ive made a diagram because explaining all of it in text would be tedious to write and hard to understand. One thing that isn't in the diagram is what the modifers do: The first one (red record button) opens up the secondary features of many buttons for things that aren't as often needed such as: (these work while the record button is held)
The next modifier is the "loop increase" button (above the rec. button) It makes the A/B configuration turn into C/D when it is held. Every mixer/cue/effect button still works but for the C/D including the rec. button modifiers and loading buttons (explained next) Finally the "loop decrease" button makes it possible to see a full screen track browser and allows you to load tracks. The controls are as follows when holding this button:
here is a link to my .TSI file: http://s000.tinyupload.com/download....16289765611562 here is a link to my kontrol editor file: http://s000.tinyupload.com/download....34243183084528 Give it a try and let me know how you like it. most of the mappings should make sense but some i just had to put somewhere... |
Genevieve Marecki 06.01.2011 | I wrote a 4deck/4fx mapping and a 4fx mapping you guys might want to check out. Both are available here |

Mozell Paliotti 01.09.2010 | Hello everybody, I just created a Mapping for the Korg nanokontrol and Traktor! you can download the Tsi and the Nktrl_set files from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?i2xssybf388pn Enjoy |
Graham Frazier 24.08.2010 | Yeah, that's actually how i have mine setup now. |
Lorita Leazenby 24.08.2010 | Is it possible to map the transport section to use it for browsing? |
Graham Frazier 27.07.2010 | The leds on the NanoKontrol are not midi controlled, the closest you can do is set them to toggle mode using korg's kontrol editor. |
Yasmin Diener 27.07.2010 | Does somebody know how to keep the led on in buttons, when function mapped is activated?? |
Toccara Trenkle 10.12.2009 | Hey, I had almost the same ideas for my TSI. not finished yet but I'll post it when done. |
Tamala Jurney 25.11.2009 | Does anyone know if the .tsi was ever posted?? I just got my Kontrol yesterday and I'm looking to use it solely for effects. I'm combining it with my VCI 300. anyone have anything taht would be of use to me for that??? I've never created my own .tsi file. |
Fumiko Higley 19.11.2009 | I liked Str8upDrew's template, so I created a blank labeling template for the Korg nanoKONTROL for download off my blog: http://djevanstone.blogspot.com/2009...templates.html ...or just directly here: http://www.recombinantstudios.com/do...anokontrol.png I found it useful in mapping out MIDI settings for NI Traktor before actually labeling my controller... hope someone else could find it useful as well. |
Ofelia Pleites 05.08.2009 | agreed. i can't get nything from that link. please do post it again. having real trouble trying to figure out the mapping for nanokontrol to traktor. BTW, i AM dumb as a post with the korg manual!!! |
Stephan Roob 04.08.2009 | is it just me or does that link not really do anything? haha. sounds pretty cool though, ide love to take a look at it, ive yet to include my nano into my mix, ide really like to |

Waneta Corlette 28.06.2009 | Hey Drew this is exactly what i was trying to do with my nano, it just arrived yesterday. I wanted to use Nano as a dj controller and traktor as a visual reference. i have couple of questions though.. Did you map this in Kontrol Editor...or Traktor? unfortunately for me it doesn't seem to be working in both. Files that im writing in KE can't be loaded in Traktor as they are different format. and secondly my traktor identifies Nano as a port but in MIDI Setup all the options are not highlighted, so im unable to assign any control... may you could make a video tutorial or something... |
Anibal Romanos 28.06.2009 | Actually, I like it that much that I'd like to try it. Could you maybe post the tsi? It would save me a lot of time trying to figure out the mapping... |
Anibal Romanos 27.06.2009 | Hey! Great setup! I see you didn't use the middle fader(Channel 5 on the device). You could set that up to be the crossfader and the 2 buttons next to it to switch between decks A/C and B/D, if you have a 4 deck setup. I really like the setup of the scenes. Not many people make use of that function. Good stuff buddy! |
