Ultimate APC40 Traktor Pro Map Project - Rotary Faders + 4 FX units + 4 Deck Support

I've started on a complete mapping for the APC 40 and I wanted to get some feedback on the layout before I invest any more time in it. If you see any problems I might run into please let me know or if you have any advice or feedback I would appreciate it.

I was trying to figure out how I could have full 4 deck EQs, 4 decks, and 4 FX units and I had the idea to make it primarily a rotary fader layout, that way all the EQs, faders, and crossfader are all centered like a normal mixer, and you can have full VU meters on each channel.

I've started working on it but I don't have much experience mapping anything this advanced with LEDs and all of these different modes so it's taking a little while and I want to make sure it's possible before I continue.

For the decks I was planning on putting each deck on a 3/4 grid. Each one has cue points 1-4 up top and then I want to add an option to expand the cue to 1-8 to each deck, where expanding deck a would replace deck B's cue points with deck a 5-8, and expanding deck B would slide all 8 cue points over to the left starting where deck A's were, and you can toggle between either expanded or both with 1-4, and the same goes for deck c and d.

I believe I'll alternate cue LED colors to start with red for grid/cue 1 then 2-4 green for deck A then red 1 yellow 2-4, then when either expand option is selected it will expand to each respective decks color, and the colors duplicated for C/D. If a cue point is not saved for any slot it's status would blink.

On the bottom there are two full effects units and you can toggle between 1 and 3 on the left and 2 and 4 on the right. Then the buttons are on the bottom row with FX select up/down for each. Now that I'm writing this out I would add a FX unit assign on/off as a shift option for each deck.

On the mixer side it is self explanatory, rotary faders, low, mid, and high EQs with kills on the low and highs. Crossfader with options to assign it on/off for each deck (A/C to left and B/D to the right). I want to add a filter mode which replaces the mids with filters for each deck and the high kill buttons to toggle them on/off (or maybe I'll just make that a shift option). List select on the bottom know, shift is tree select, then the bank select buttons load each deck.

I want to add an option to switch the rotary faders to linear faders, then by using the track select buttons you can shift the rotary faders to any of the FX units while keeping the low EQs. Then move the cue buttons to the bottom above each line fader and have those buttons switch to VU meters.

I might possibly put a master VU meter above the master volume fader up the side and if I can switch the buttons to blinking when any of them are selected.

I know this will be time consuming so if you have any advice or see any problems I would appreciate hearing about them now before I run into them which I'm sure I will. Or if you like the idea and are experienced at this you could just make it for me . I'll be sure to share this if/when I can complete it.

Sorry I only have paint on this comp., I also see I'll need to add a browse expand window button as a shift somewhere.

Ohhh... I have only to use apc40 in my shows... So, it would be great if you separately share a map only for apc40... I mean EQs, cue points, filters, effects and so on - all this posibilities in one controller. By the way, creating a map is a custom thing... And the finest way to do the best compatible map for you is to create it by youself. There are many variations of mappings, and the main question is how should I map my controller to get the maximum posibilities and total control.

Thanks man, i'll have a chance to work it out in the next few days.

I'm believeing of doing another map with traktor kontrol x1s on either side. It will just be a little redundant with some of the controls.

I'm believeing of doing vertical channels for each deck, cue points 1-8 vertically in two columns, beatjumps below that, play cue below, sync/master below, then FX assigns on the small buttons, loop roll or filter on the left fader (I made smaller fader caps for the loop control to avoid confusion, either loop roll or filter. Line fader and channel cue with VU meter above the line faders, then that system duplicated across the board for each deck. Master volume and browse, bank selects to load, then master vu above that. My reason for possibly going this route is I dont like rotaries for EQs. I would put FX units 1-4 on the rotaries.

Then on the control X1s some things replicated below with EQs up top and rotary faders on the bottom to switch between line and rotary and get some tactile feedback with center indents.

I may go the original EQ route in the middle to keep the apc40 mainly as a mixer and for cue juggling since it may be awkward to have EQs on the side all staggered. I just wish the encoders were potentiometers. I could sort of combine the map ideas and go the vertical route for each deck. let me know what you believe, I just like the original since all you need is the apc40 and a soundcard.

I have a xone 4d but with my space situation this might work better since I can't lug it around, plus with some thought and hard work the apc40 can be dope for traktor.
