Vestax Typhoon w/ Traktor LE - No sound from headphones?
Posted on: 04.11.2010 by Tammara Marwick
Morning all, this is my first post, my first post of many hopefully.

I can't seem to get any sound out of my headphones.

I have my controller plugged into a desktop pc and speakers plugged into the desktop pc also. Sound is coming out of the speakers fine and the fader, pitch, effects e.t.c are all working also.

What shall I try to get the headphones working?

I have probably missed something obvious being that this is my first controller, so apologies in advance if this turns out to be the case.

Thank you for your time.

Slice.

ok here I also only have Typhoon dj-controller out 0
and Typhoon dj-controller out 1

but in this case u have to listen to the sound in mono as well as the rest of the people AND it doesn 't change much because out 0 is the left output of the Typhoon and output1 is the right output, but nothing as a 3rd and 4th output for monitoring...

Its playing out of that not your Laptop. If you can connect your Typhoon outputs to a stereo you will hear it.

I dont know if you can but to hear it out of the laptop you need to select the Onboard Soundcard (thats the Dell) in preferences.
Problem is that Traktor only lets you select one soundcard so you will lose the headphone out on the vestax.

You really should follow the wiring diagram for the Vestax as it shows the connection from the soundcard to speakers (just looked)

I did but traktor tells me "please connect and select an audio device" (wich is connected:leds on, and working with asio4all without changing anything else).
I hate having bought something and not be able or can't make it work after almost a whole month...
I really believe I am gonna send the nice looking little toy to where it came from and buy something else... (surely not from Vestax which does not even answer a mail, super support!!!)

Have you all installed Asio4Typhoon? (i believe that's what it's called), proprietary drivers for windows always seem to suck.

Same thing here...
I am already believeing of sending my typhoon back if I cannot resolve this problem this week...

Ok so now I have a RCA to RCA cable which I'm using to connect the controller and my hifi.

However, when I select TYPHOON DJ-Controller it says '4 In, 2 Out'.

So I can only select TYPHOON DJ-Controller Out 0 and Out 1, there is no option to select 2 and 3.

Any ideas please gents?

Look up how to make an aggregate/combined sound device.

That combines 2 of your devices into 1 virtual soundcard which you can use in Traktor. I don't know how to do it on a PC. That way you can plug your speakers straight into the laptop and your headphones into the controller.

However, in the long term getting an adapter or cable would be a better solution.

Also, i suggest that since Traktor Pro licences are currently on a 50% off deal, you should pick one up. It gives you so much more flexibility than LE.

Problem is my speakers are logitech pc speakers which have the above circled connection.

Is there anyway round this or will I have to buy an adapter like shown above?

Audio Setup > Audio Device: vestax typhoon

Output Routing > Master: 0 and 1
Monitor: 2 and 3

Plug Speakers into Master output on controller.

Headphones are plugged into the controller (Y).

Yep, use the onboard soundcard for master and make sure monitor is setup correctly in the prefs.

Or if you have a mac you can do what I'm having to do at the moment with my shitty speakers here in spain, make an aggregate sound device so more than one can be used at the same time. I believe it's possible with a PC but I don't know how.

are you plugging them into the headphone jack on your computer?

your computer has only 1 output, so to cue with your headphones you need a soundcard

i recommend the audio 2 dj from native instruments for about $100.
