Toggling 4 decks
Toggling 4 decks Posted on: 24.08.2011 by Xenia Gorin OK first time Traktor user, first time posting. I have a Numark Mixdeck and I have managed to map a button on both sides of the Mixdeck. 1 button toggles A & C and on the other side its the same button but it toggles B & D. This is where I'm running into problems. When I toggle a deck I can control it from either side, it seems like it has something to do with the 'focus'...... I've been using VDJ for 5 years and when I toggle decks with that it switches everything but only on 1 side of the Mixdeck. Whereas Traktor is making the switch but affecting both sides of the Mixdeck. So basically if I switch to deck D I can control it from either deck, the track shows in both displays, I can stop, start, cue, loop, everything from either side. This way of mapping is turning out to be quit the pain. Can someone please help me??Thanks for looking and the time Huey | |

Xenia Gorin 24.08.2011 | Thanks bro you've been most helpful!! Respect Huey the 'Sound Insurgent' www.waxmuseumrecords.com |
Tatum Ansaldo 24.08.2011 | There's no official guide, http://djbrute.co.uk/?page_id=39 is useful (and free) and the Traktor Bible is brilliant (but you have to pay for it). The Traktor Bible website has a useful interactive guide to midi commands: http://www.traktorbible.com/en/t2_commandfinder.aspx |
Xenia Gorin 24.08.2011 | 1 more thing, lol! Does Traktor have an official mapping guide?? I've searched online and all I've found are user submitted tutorials.........not that that's bad but........ Thanks for the time and info Huey |
Tatum Ansaldo 24.08.2011 | If you have a mac there's an app called xtreme mapping, never used it but I've heard it's good. Unfortunately yes, unless you can find a 4 deck mapping out there on the interwebz you will have to remap it. |
Xenia Gorin 24.08.2011 | Oh man I have to basically remap the whole controller!! You've got to be kidding?? Is there anyway I can look at my mapping outside of Traktor?? That window is just too small. Thanks for the time and info Huey |
Tatum Ansaldo 24.08.2011 | You need to map a modifier to each button, not a deck focus switch. Only 1 deck can be the focus at a time, so if your controls are all mapped to deck focus they'll all affect the same deck. Check out DJ Brute's guide to midi mapping: http://djbrute.co.uk/?page_id=39 What you need to do (and if you don't understand this, you need to read the above) is set the button to be a toggle modifier then duplicate all your controls with the modifier conditions on every control being 0 for deck A and 1 for deck C. Do the same for decks B and D. |
Xenia Gorin 24.08.2011 | Is there anyone that can help?? I'd really like to gives this software a try but if I can't even customize it to my liking then its pretty much worthless like Scratch live or Itch........ Anyone??? |
