Traktor S4 w/TouchOSC instant gratification mapping... Posted on: 18.08.2011 by Matthew Yanagisawa ...or similar!!!Hello fellow dapper ranking ers! Has been a while and I finally went to the conclusion, 'fuck it, Im going full digital' ditching my Korg Electribe (last of analog instruments I had) and just dabble with the S4 and TouchOSC for the time being... So I was asking if any1 had a mapping for these 2 to play along or simply share an idea about how to make these 2 great interfacing fornicate well and happily together. I was trying to go for an x/y OSC for the effects but I cant manage to make them play cheerfully together as Im hoping to... Also controlling decks c/d with touch OSC hasnt proved to be as easy as I thought.... So share your ideas and mappings or if theres already a thread about this, let me know since my search was not successful at all. Good day! | |

Matthew Yanagisawa 26.08.2011 | If you Goolge 'traktor s4 touchOSC' this is suggestion number 4 . http://digitaldjtools.net have some touchOSC mappings for both Iphone and Ipad. Maybe those are good to alter in a way more specific to your needs? |
Irwin Ney 19.08.2011 | I believe my map would fit you well in some points but in others it would duplicate some S4 functions mapped to the left and the right part of the controller because I use iPAD with TouchOSC and external Mixer. |
Matthew Yanagisawa 18.08.2011 | Nice ideas you have there mate! VCI juggle mode would be a nice addition but instead of platter, use an x/y. Also some extra cues would be very good too. I'll check the plooping video again to refresh memories and see if I could apply it more to my needs. A rebelieveing of decks c/d more streamlined and simple. And I have yet to check that sweet looking electribe app |
Kecia Wnukowski 18.08.2011 | You could way better than the gratification mapping actually. The thing is, the gratification mapping makes great use of the few buttons available (yes, 12 is not enough). Adding a combo is just a clever advantage that is set up. If you have an ipad, you could create a grid of more than twelve buttons and having all the additional effects, originally available on the push of specific buttons, available all the time. I do use an Iphone as a complementary controller (don't ask for the files, it's a work in progress) where I have several pages: - one or two pages with a kind of (see above) gratification mapping (with different presets) - one page with two X/y pads and several buttons for fx presets - one page with low kills, global filter (a fader acting on all decks' filter) - one page for sample deck(s) control (each slot having its own volume & filter control) so I don't have to switch layers on the s4 and keep all buttons as hotcues - one page for track deck control (usually for deck D, I do work with 3 tracks decks and one sample deck) - one page duplicating the copy mode of the s4 where I've added some functions (beatjumps and others) so I can do tricks with duplicates of a track. That's seven pages which for an Iphone is quite the maximum I feel is convenient but then you could create a lot of other things (those are different ideas I didn't set up yet): - a page dedicated to super knobs and faders - a page duplicating the vci's juggle mode (you can benefit from the new encoder type of control) - a "plooping" page - additional controls missing from the s4 (pan, key, etc...) There's so much you can do when you can basically draw the controller that fits your specific needs... ps: did you have a look at the Electribe app from Korg for Ipad? |
