Hey guys,

I was wondering how Ean mapped the VCI-100Se volume fader so that when it reaches 0 it activates "effect 3 on". I"m trying to do the same with my Numark Stealth Control.

awesome! there's usually a way of getting what u need in traktor by combining stuff and/or using modifiers... but it takes most of us mere mortals quite a bit of experimenting to work it out

shame there's not a wiki or something someplace for recording tricks like the one u just found... (unless NI has something like that, don't believe so tho)

For normal (non inv) when you move the slider it turns on and when you reach the bottom it turns off.

For invert when you move the slider it turns on and when you reach the bottom it stays on.
ah yep - just did a test with mapping a pot on my lpd8 to the mixer fxunit on/off

with button/hold/inverted it turns OFF right at the top and is ON at all other times

with button/direct/inverted it is ON within the bottom 50% of the pot and OFF the top 50% of the pot (tho u need to click on invert in button mode, and it keeps the value thru to direct mode)

not what u want - but the 'direct' interaction is interesting.

must be a solution mapping the control to a modifier maybe? but i can't work it out - been spoiled by using my midimasher and writing lua code for everything for ages and not having to use the control manager in traktor...

if it's inverted it should turn the fx (or whatever) ON when the fader is at zero and OFF at any other time - which is what u said u wanted i thought.

true - but u can map a control of type 'button' to a fader as well as the normal control. if inverted like i said i *believe* it should do what u want. i.e: the button will be "pressed" when the fader is at zero and off at all other times.

ah - my bad - looks like that's only for outputs. so you'd need some software like bomes or my midimasher sitting between your controller and traktor. probably a bit over the top if thats the only thing you were missing maybe tho.

edit: maybe add an extra mapping for the fader of type 'button' instead of fader and invert it - that in theory should then be ON when the fader is at zero and OFF at all other times.

With it with "hold" it still turns on when the volume slider is moved. Its off at its initial off position. I agree that in theory invert should work but it doesn't.

Try button>hold
Not sure if that's it, (at work) but I have what you're asking about in my VCI mapping.

i'm pretty sure that the vci se sends out multiple midi messages for the faders, with note on/off's when u get to the top and bottom as well as a cc message as you move it - with also an extra note at the mid point.

u should be able to do the same thing tho by setting adding a new fx control with the midi range for the fader to 0 to 0 - and an inverted control to turn off the effect. haven't tried that tho.
