Weird Traktor Mapping Bug?
Weird Traktor Mapping Bug? Posted on: 21.09.2011 by Danae Dumler Can anyone reproduce this? I'm having a weird problem. I'm trying to set up several effects parameters with a single button so that I can control the Filter-92 with some knobs on my Evo 5. In order for this to work I need two buttons with identical mappings, one mapped to FX unit 3, and the other for FX unit 4 (FX unit 3 turns on the filter controls for Deck A, and unit 4 on Deck B). I want the button to set everything up but not make any sound changes; those I will control with knobs. So I want the button to do all of the following:
Now here's the weirdness: this works fine on FX unit 3, but with the same settings on another button for FX unit 4 (and deck B), the button works fine except for the LP filter (FX parameter 3), which it turns to 1.0 for a split second and then jumps back to 0. There's a workaround - I set it to 0.990 instead of 1 and it works fine - it sets it to .99 and there is no change in the music or the setting because the resolution is such that .99 and 1 are functionally the same. OK fine. But what's weird is if I apply the same setting to FX unit 3 (setting it to .99 instead of 1.0) I get the same problem I had setting FX unit 4 to 1.0 -- the thing turns all the way up for a split second and then jumps back to 0! The fix is to have one set to .99 and the other set to 1.0 but this seems bizarre; this can't be expected behavior, can it? Am I missing something stupid here? Thanks! | |

Nedra Fresneda 03.10.2011 | Yes, button 1 is reset fx to saved state in advanced (single) mode. It should do the trick. |
Dorcas Bassignani 03.10.2011 | If the fx units are in 'single mode', then why not use the reset default button under dry/wet knob? Set up the parameters in start positition, hit the button to learn default, then map the function named 'reset to default' (something like that). Only send 1 message. Get all results... Assuming that function still exists |
Christia Saltmarsh 03.10.2011 | Definitely, I suggest doing it, I listed out the bugs I found yesterday in detail and submitted one, then I found even more while I was finishing off the next version of my mapping. In general in 2.1.1 I found: - FX On for FX Units can't be set as direct interaction mode buttons. - There was an issue with Sample Deck 4 Slot 4 being set as a hold button. - I had issues with re-arranging my FX Unit On per Deck as well, I basically have 4 buttons per deck so I can either enable FX Unit 1, 2, 3,4 for Deck A, B, C or D, or alternatively I can turn off FX Unit 1,2,3,4 altogether and leave the FX unit enabled per deck. This works well for me when DJing as I use different tech. - I also found (but have yet to report) that turning on/off sample decks c / d all slots filters' is not working in 2.1.1 in direct interaction mode. I confirmed all of the above work in 2.0.2. They did make some fixes though in 2.1.1 because I was having issues in 2.0.2 with filter amounts/loop sizes on deck b and that issue is gone with 2.1.1 so here's hoping they are working through these issues as they are being flagged to them. |
Danae Dumler 03.10.2011 | Thanks for the input - I'm wondering if I should make a bug report for this or if it is just me. Seems there are a lot of weirdnesses with 2.1.1. Not sure if I had the same problem in 2.0.3. |
Christia Saltmarsh 02.10.2011 | I'm finding loads of what I believe may be bugs as well, for example, I use the APC40 for control of decks/FX (I have an external mixer), I use the track control "Pan", "Send" "Send B" and "Send C" buttons to turn on my FX. Effects Unit 1 & 2 are single FX, FX units 3 and 4 are group FX. In the case of the effects unit 1 & 2 when I hit the button it should be a simple turn on/off the power of the unit. In the case of effects unit 3 & 4, again it should be pretty straight forward, turn off Effect 1 On, Effect 2 On, and Effect 3 On. However, I've found this not to work for Effect Unit 3, but it does work for Effect Unit 4. The topper is that in TPS2.0.2 it works fine! But I have different issues that I believe are bugs there relating to multi-mapping filters/loop lengths to one knob! All I can say to help is that I'm feeling similar frustrations with Traktor right now, it's very difficult to trouble shoot your mapping when some things may be logic issues on your own part, but in other cases it's what I believe are bugs in the system. I guess on the upside you found a solution to it so that's one piece of good news! |
