I've got a 4 deck setup on Traktor, controlled by a Launchpad (mostly for transport and cues) and a BCR2000 (mixer and FX). At the moment I'm using the rotaries on the BCR for channel faders, which is a passable solution - but is really irksome for fast cuts. What I'm looking for is a

if you like the 1D and believe it's too tall just wait a month and pick up a K2 i know i will be... no big jog wheel but does have some biggish encoders - which would be fine for track browsing at least

Ha yeah true that I guess. Either I'm getting bratty or just too used to tiny tables, booths.

I'm actually looking into laptop stands not for the screen elevation so much as the ability to possibly tuck the BCR2000 under it a little to compact my setup a little.
I personally don't like the idea of using faders on a slope. I don't know, long fades on a steep slope just seem very awkward to me.
I was believeing this too, that's why I'd probably have the faders on just a gentle slope/flat... Will have to some cardboardcutting to see how deep the stand would be though... I was believeing of building some sort of stand for them, like so:

Code:
|
|
|Laptop
+------+
            \ <-BCR/BCF on a slope
              \
                \ BCR/BCF (maybe on a slighter slope)
                 +---------+
                                | Launchpad
                                +--------------+
This would be a massive thing to bring to a club though, and would mostly be used when doing "gigs" with my own productions etc. (then using Ableton). As for regular DJ-gigs I believe I'll just bring the launchpad and use the in house mixer...

Edit: Forum doesn't like my ascii-art. But the idea is that the laptop would be on top, then a Behringer unit on a slope, then the other on a slighter slope and the the launchpad under the whole thing.

Well having the BCR2000, I can say something about the build quality of those units. They are tanks. With remapping has come constant abuse with marker pens, tape and the like. One caveat I would remark on is those top row encoders which are on the BCF2000 too. They aren't great. They can be a little unresponsive at times, I don't know whether that's because of their function as a button too - but I always try and avoid them for crucial parameters. I'm sure those massive faders rock though.
The only downside is the size. These things were not designed to be compact, and I cant help but feel that the hollowness you feel when you pick it up could have been helped by squashing it all a little to help the heftiness of the thing. This is the reason another BCx2000 unit wouldn't be ideal for me, imagine the size of a Launchpad and two BCR's AND a MacBook next to each other.
But I must say, the value of those units is phenomenal.

Hijacking a bit... And giving a suggestion.
I'm believeing about the BCF 2000, has 8 faders... Seems handy both for Traktor and Ableton Live purposes for me. Don't have it yet though, so I don't know the quality, maybe someone could fill me in?
