Modifier Combo button mapping
Modifier Combo button mapping Posted on: 14.12.2011 by Nia Lindau Need Help!!!I'm trying to map a modifier by the combination of 2 buttons. So... B1 = Mod 1 Value 1 B2 = Mod 1 Value 2 B1+B2 = Mod 1 Value 3. It kind of works (with 2 duplicate condition inputs of both Mod values) But... It doesn't release back to 0 state. It sticks. Need some kind of release, or reset, without hitting a button. | |

Nia Lindau 20.12.2011 | The only problem is when you start using 2 buttons for modifiers things start latching more unless you let go of the buttons in the right order. Sounds good, but I've already also got all the arrow buttons as mod2 v1-4. This gives me 4 pages, plus 12 more 'pages' with the mod1 combos. I'm still experimentating what works smoothly for quick access to decks and all features without getting to complicated. I want it to feel natural, intuiative and easy. I will post full mapping eventually :] |
Stanford Burgy 19.12.2011 | If I was gonna do something like that, I would have done it using to mods ie Button X - M1=0 Button X + L1 - M1=1 Button X - M2 = 0 Button X + R1 - M2=1 This way you can have four commands for one button M1=0, M2=0 - Play Deck A M1=1, M2=0 - Play Deck B M1=0, M2=1 - Play Deck C M1=1, M2=1 - Play Deck D Hope this helps |
Nia Lindau 19.12.2011 | That almost! worked for me :] The Mod1 V1 got stuck... But the v3 works great. Changed it slightly to: button 1 mod=0 hold to value 1 button 1 mod=1 hold to value 1 button 1 mod=2 hold to value 3 button 1 mod=3 hold to value 0 button 2 mod=0 hold to value 2 button 2 mod=1 hold to value 3 button 2 mod=2 hold to value 2 button 2 mod=3 hold to value 3 |
Kecia Wnukowski 16.12.2011 | here's a proposal that seems to work for me: the first button would make the modifier goes to 1, the second to 2, if any one of the two is already pressed, the second would make the modifier goes to 3, releasing any of the two would set the modifier back to 0. If that's not exactly how you want it to work I'll offer something different. button 1 mod=0 hold to value 1 button 1 mod=1 hold to value 0 button 1 mod=2 hold to value 3 button 1 mod=3 hold to value 0 button 2 mod=0 hold to value 2 button 2 mod=1 hold to value 3 button 2 mod=2 hold to value 2 button 2 mod=3 hold to value 3 to be honest that's not how I would have thought it would work, but it seems to be a viable solution. It may depends on how your midi messages from the button is sent. I used a midi controller with buttons set as gate type in the midi configuration. Let me know. |
Nia Lindau 16.12.2011 | When I hold both L1+R1 the Mod1 Value changes to 3 fine. When I release either button or both buttons the Value sticks on 3 (only changes if i let go of both buttons, and repress one and let go again). Id like it to go back to 0 when letting go of both. Other options is... any kind of way of making a combo modifier button? |

Pretty please with a cherry on the top!
I'm not sure you answered at which time you want the reset to happen (or just for the sake of clarification), after pressing the two buttons (so your modifier has a value of three)? |
Nia Lindau 16.12.2011 | Pretty please with a cherry on the top! Hold buttons. So the controller is... PS3 Controller. The 2 buttons are L1 + R1. Routed through OSCulator. L1 = Mod1 V1 R1 = Mod1 V2 L1+R1 = Mod1 V3 Uploaded with ImageShack.us |
