Kontrol S4 Traktor "HOW CAN I MAP SEVERAL FX INTO ONE BUTTON (COMBO)?"
Posted on: 10.07.2012 by Ferdinand Pritchett
Hey everybody,

since I' kinda new in mapping I was wondering how I can map different FX (e.g. beatmasher & reverse) so I just have to press one button on my S4 and those FX are used simultaniously.

(if this is the wrong community /thread please tell me)

Looking forward to you responses

but, you can use any other midi controller to assign things to. you can even use an iphone/ipad if you happen to have one.

i have a nanokontrol1, they are only $40 and are ok/good enough - its no midi fighter. i have built a mapping for quick djing tools like killing eq on deck a-d, multi fx, turntable fx, delay and pan L/R all at your fingertips.

custom mapping = awesome
I see... believe I'' get myself an extra Pad (nano maybe) ... anyway, thanks for your help :-)

@ bigbeatzz I rareky use a forth deck, which is why I want to use the left knobs and buttons as an FX deck... anyway, I believe I'll get myself an extra pad or sth... cheers, mate

I am one of the dudes who has spent a gazillion hours mapping combos on my S4. One quick and easy piece of advice is for you to spend a few bucks and buy a midifighter. This will save you headaches and will also allow you to get back to what you enjoy...THE MUSIC.

I took on the mapping as a challenge and while it's fun, it really doesn't give you an ounce of music ability. Another cool device you can get is a Maschine with the midifighter mapping. With maschine you can assign 2 notes to each pad, this allow you to easily trigger extra effects. I added a reverb to my gater effect which made it sound less sharp.

It believe that might be the problem! How can I disable their primary function?
I'd like to use the Filter knob (from deck c)
(thanks for your answer, trux :-) )

it depends which knob you are talking about, the kontrol s4 has a mapping hardwired into it - remapping over these functions without disabling their primary function just confuses the software.

Go to YouTube and look up armyofme's 'drama sweep effect' for traktor. This should give you a place to start on mapping fx combos.

This would be under controller mappings but you simply create 2 midi functions for the 2 FX (4 commands total). 2 FX selector and 2 FX unit "X" on. Make sure they're all on the same button with the "learn" function. For both type will be button, direct, then select the FX at the bottom of the controller manager the FX on will be direct hold (or toggle if you prefer) type with a value of 1. Now if you want the value to change that takes a bit more mapping.
