How to map F1 Midi Mode
Posted on: 07.08.2012 by Alisa Neuder
Can't figure this one out or find any help so here goes.
I turn my F1 onto midi mode in traktor and by default it gives me a custom user mapping by NI (presumably). I don't want this mapping and no matter how many times I delete it or change the ports it keeps coming back every time I go into midi mode. I did get some mapping in at one stage but when I went back into Traktor and switched to midi mode it came back again. I am getting frustrated and hope someone here can shed some light for me. I do not have this problem what so ever with my X1 or doing midi mappings for my S4.

I am stumped.

Well I apologize, I am obviously ignorant to mapping (why I like NI hardware)

I just got rid of my mf to get the F1 and would love to have it mapped as both. If there is more info on this please let me know because I got the F1 simply to use with the remix decks but would love to have it do more

How would it be cheeper to buy a apc40? when he already has the F1.
Anyway I have only mapped the F1's mute buttons to be play pause on all 4 decks and they have stayed mapped like that ever since so I'm not realy sure what you are doing wrong. So I know it can be done

Are you deleting the mapping in the controller manager? Select the midi F1 (not the HID one) mapping then click edit and select delete.

I bought the F1 for the remix decks, which is great. But I am able to add more functionality with midi mode for effects, I don't plan on ALWAYS using the remix decks ALL the time, would be good to be able to switch the mapping back and forth for when I want to jam out with effects. I will give it another whirl later on and hopefully I get better results, not sure what I am doing wrong or if I am missing something basic, I have been able to map my X1 into an effects machine so this should not be that difficult.
Thanks for the responses

Why not remap the midi part? you'r playing a track on deck A and want to do Some MF tricks but you don't have a MF. Press shift and browse and you have a midifigher wan't to go back into a remix rutine after that press Shift and browser again and now you kontroll the remix deecks. for the same reason you would remap any controller get more controlls.

Remapping the F1 does not mean you loose the remix decks but you get custom mappings in midi mode.

whats the point of having an F1, if you're just going to remap it?

And yea cheaper wasn't the right word. more for your money
