Problems with s4 hardware.

I love it so far, but I've noticed a big problem. My main output RCA, one of them has a loose connection and has to be wiggled around to produce a signal to get sound! Anybody else experiencing this?

Also what the hell is up with NI service. I have called non stop to try to get info and emailed the support to get it warrantied (I've only had it for about 2 months). Anyone know the best way to get in contact with them for this?

sounds like a rad time.......

Well I got off the phone with NI and they are sending my a UPS box to send my S4 back. I said I had the newest software installed and I was on a Mac. So its clear they know massive amounts of people are calling about software V1.0 and being on a windows machine and it being garbage at the moment.

I got Edwin on the phone and he was good about it. Told him my main RCA needs to be wiggled around to produce any sound out of the left speaker. The right works fine but the left has a loose connection. Right now that RCA connection is being propped up with a mini video tape and a xbox battery controller battery haha. I told him I switched between several RCA cables to ensure it wasn't my cable. Said he put in an order and he would send me an email that would require me to send my serial # in it. I did that and updated my account info. So hopefully I should see a UPS box to send it back soon. I'll keep this thread updated with info on the progress.

Hi guiltyblade,

I have a different problem with my S4. It's described here. Although it's a completely different issue, it's also mechanical and has to do with the overall build quality of the controller.

I've been trying to get help from NI ever since I posted my initial report of that problem here on DJTT community s. I had waited for a week and a half after submitting a request to NI's technical support using the form on their website. There was no response from them other than the auto-reply notifying me that a support case was created. So, I replied to that asking what the status of my support case is. The next day I got a response from someone who signs his emails as Vangelis. Yup, I guess the guy has no last name There was no apology for the delayed response or anything. The email said I should install the latest update and try "recalibrating FX knobs, etc."

I'm not going to complain about the quality of that initial response here as it's very typical of most software companies these days. It's still funny, though. First of all, it's a button that doesn't work properly. There is technically nothing to calibrate. Secondly, they ask you what version of the Traktor software you use when you submit a support request. They knew I was using the latest version, yet they still asked me to update

I then sent another reply saying that yes, the latest update is installed and that no, recalibrating FX knobs, etc. doesn't help. Their next reply informed me that they will most likely need to take the hardware back for testing and that they will send me a UPS shipping label after I confirm that the contact information associated with my account on NI's website is correct. They also asked for the serial number of the unit in question and said that if they find the problem, they will repair or replace it.

After I got that last email from Vangelis, I replied with everything he asked for. That was 3 days ago. I haven't heard back with anything yet. I'll give them a few more days, but I feel like I might need to send another reminder to get a response this time as well.

The bottom line is that if you are willing to try and get your S4 repaired/replaced, prepare for the worst including robot-like replies, long response times, lack of attention, etc. I hope this helps.
