New S2 Mapping by Ean Golden

Hi I currently own an S4 and planning on getting a midifighter pro BM

Will the mapping that Ean is making for the S4 that is similar to the S2 jogwheel effects mapping be able to work with the IG or MFPBM togeather?

All in all, I bought the mapping a few days ago and it is a vast improvement from the original (1.0) version that seemed unusable to me.. this one I can actually see using live. Maybe I can get a refund, no big deal. $5 is not a big deal to me to keep the community thriving The issue was a question about updating the 1.0 one

I freakin love these dramatic sweeps and being able to change out the effect using shift+turing the desired effect knob.

Anyone figure out how to use the 3 & 4 effect banks?

Other than the effects being used anything else crazy I'm missing? Ean said there are "easter eggs"

Maybe I'll create one of those mapping picture guides for the community.

Once again, didn't mean to upset anyone.
I just sent out the updated mapping to everyone who bought the S2 from us. This was our intention all along. Sorry for not making this more clear. Let me know your order number and I will refund your order.

In the Ean Golden mapping the echo freeze effect can be used by pressing shift and pressing the loop move knob.

I LOVE my S2 and would recommend it.

If you go into the controller manager, it doesn't seem that anything is mapped to bank 3. I ended up mapping the left platter control that bank instead of bank 1.

My issues with this mapping:

  • The cross-fader defaults to B deck on start-up. Have to manually re-set it every time I open Traktor. Haven't figured out how to get this fixed yet.

Edit: Solution is to change the X-fader interaction mode from relative to direct.

  • My gain knobs are now filters. Not too difficult to un-map, but I wish I wouldn't have had to.

  • I can't load a new track without stopping the currently playing one.

  • My loop knobs only browse through the loaded track in single beat increments, regardless of the number of beats selected. Haven't figured out how to fix this yet.

  • The platters control FX bank 1 and 2, when it seems like they should be mapped to 3 and 4 so the S2 knobs can control 1 and 2.

I purchased this for the effects mapping, not all of the undisclosed "easter eggs". It's been more of a pain in the ass removing all the unnecessary "improvements" than it would have been just to make the effects map from scratch.

Someone figure that sh*t out and post it up.

I believe this competition thing is annoying... just show us all the features on this mapping already.

I'm more interested in echo freeze and filters than all that other malarky myself

$5 is more than reasonable. Anyone that has spent time tearing their hair out with that tiny hectic traktor mapping window will testify

Yeah - But, I believe I said it first!

I'd personally contact DJTT directly, if felt I should get the mapping for free being a DJTT S2 customer. No need to argue about it here. Unfortunately, even though we are talking about $5, it is about the principle of what should come with the product and what was sold. That needs clarification.

I bet even some of the S4 owners, who bought from DJTT, will be asking for the S4 mapping for free too. All I can say is, it is 5 bucks people. To me, that price isn't even worth getting upset about. I'd be more anxious to pay the $5 to get the mapping. Yeah baby!

$5 is super reasonable considering the amount of work that goes into a mapping. If you've ever mapped anything cool on the S4 you'll know that it takes a massive amount of time to get it tuned in correctly. I'd gladly pad $5 for a great mapping.

Also...what Smittten said!

Just got the mapping and love it, don't mind paying a little extra for all the hard work that was put into it. Just wish I could figure out how to use FX3 bank. Has anyone figured it out?

I thought Ean said in the video, if you have bought your S2 from DJTT in the past the mapping was still free. If you have already bought it without contacting them, shoot em an email.

if its minus one feature its not the same!!! deal with it. Pay the $5 to upgrade or settle for the one you got for free!!! I'm getting sick of free loaders wanting the world to map their S4's/S2's for them at absolutely no cost!!! i suggest that next time you want to purchase gear you go to Guitar Centre/Decks.co.uk or any other store and see what mappings you get for free from them!!! Maybe I'm just getting cranky in my old age!!!

If you have an issue with a purchase you made through the DJTT store you should contact them directly at orders@djranking s.com - Any more ranting on here is pretty much pointless. As a side note, you are close to burning through way more than $5 of goodwill from DJTT board members. These are the same guys that you will no doubt turn to when you can't figure something out.

No actually dude. It's exactly the same, minus one feature. I should get it for free because it's stated on the store, "Ean's Mapping" ... I'm sure the people that purchase the S2 today get the updated one :P

Why? I bought the s2 from djtt for the only reason of getting the mapping.. I believe its quiet shady that I didn't receive an update from the original.

I waited two weeks after release date to receive the s2 after I paid for it two months in advance, when I could've bought at my local shop that had it day one.

I throw these guys cash all the time. Knobs/vci/midifighters/etc etc..

My business isn't recognized.

@Scamo: You made a good point with the Traktor changes, but I wonder if that is going to be covered in the $5... I'd hope so.

Also wondering if they are going to make multiple mappings and how they are going to keep the .tsi's from being "shared"

Agreed, and a complicated mapping is practically like a software program. It needs planning, design, getting done and if NI makes changes to Traktor (like adding more FX and changing the order of them) then the mapping must also be kept up to date. That is work I would be happy to pay 5 bucks for. 5 bucks is actually a very nice and generously low price. I would have said $10-$15 would be fair too. I bet Ean is sort of testing the water on the "pay per mapping" idea and starting off low, so the shock isn't so bad for those, "but everything should be free" believers.

I have no issue with paying, and honoring through that payment, the good work of someone else. That is how capitalism is supposed to work.
