Reply to Grounding VCI -100 ?

I have always wondered why the VCI - 100 has a "grounding" screw on the back nere were you conect the USB. I am can imagine it has to do with static electricity messing with the touch sensor platters. But has somebody here actual needs to ground the VCI - 100 ? Is there any condition in which I should?
