I'm afraid I can't help you as I haven't got any tsi's for the VCI on my computer...
I hope you'll find the right file somewhere - if not then you could create a new thread asking for the file, I'm sure someone around here still got one!

I really appreciate your help. Just one thing the mapping for the vci-300 (the file is called a "tsi-file" .tsi, you can find it somewhere on this community ) it's a broken link i have been trying to find it everywhere but couldn't can you please help me with that? many thanks

ok, you need to take the following steps:
(please excuse if some entries aren't named exactly what i call them, i haven't got access to traktor pro right now)

1. download a mapping for the vci-300 (the file is called a "tsi-file" .tsi, you can find it somewhere on this community ): this file defines a mapping for the controller, meaning it tells traktor what to do if you press the buttons on the vci.
2. import the tsi-file: open traktor pro, open the settings, go to "midi-preferences" and click on import. on the following dialog just choose the file you downloaded in step 1.
3. choose the soundcard of the vci-300 as your output: again in the traktor pro preferences select "audio routing". choose the vci-300 as your output.
4. if you're on a windows pc and are having audio problems: install ASIO4All. This will solve any possible audio errors you may have. just google for ASIO4ALL, download and install. I believe you then have to select ASIO4ALL as you're output, but i'm not sure (as i'm on a mac and therefore don't have ASIO4ALL installed).

For anything else: browse around the threads on this community s and actually read the threads. a lot of questions have already been answered regarding the vci-300 and traktor pro.

ok i downloaded traktor pro and i just connected it to my vestax with an usb cable but it doesn't want to work. The buttons don't work. I have tried changing the settings but still no progress. I read here that i need some kind of mapping? what is that and what do i need to download to get my traktor working with my vci 300? Can you send me the link please?

well, let's start by you telling me what you did / tried and describing what doesn't work...
then i can give you some hints.

just go into your preferences and click on "Import".
there should be a file dialog to choose the file on your hard drive, just choose claudek's mapping and then click "Open". In the next dialog be sure to check the box leftside of "Midi Mapping". Then you should be all set!

not yet (i believe)... do a community search, that'll reveal new mappings if there are any

btw, maybe if you give feedback for the existing mappings then they can be adjusted in the right direction (if your suggestions make sense for the creator of the mapping you're giving feedback)!

well - that's exactly the problem, the controller just sends messages, if you don't tell traktor how to interpret these messages (with a mapping) you can't control anything with your controller!

just load one of these midi mappings into traktor:
http://www.djranking s.com/community /showthread.php?t=2627
this is my mapping (it's a bit "off the hook", so i'd suggest you to go with claudek's mapping first):
http://www.djranking s.com/community /showthread.php?t=1937
and this one is from vci-lover:
http://www.djranking s.com/community /showthread.php?t=1696

just read the threads to end and be sure to watch claudek's youtube video on the mapping (it'll show you how to use the controller with his mapping).

good luck!

I cant get this thing with mini translator and Traktor scratch pro... Is it anything in the programfiles I need to change? Anywhere to get a step by step manual?
I get reactions in the traktor program (midibutton blinks when I touch my vci) But no more than that.
And this mapping.. I cant find any files for vci-300 in traktor scratch pro just for the vci-100...

i read somewhere that the protocol itch uses is proprietary (but my guess is that it's simply midi)...

but the controller itself does output midi - so it's only a question of mapping...
and the jogs and the pitch faders are 14-bit (high resolution) midi, so if 1.0.3 enables 14-bit midi the controller itself does just fine!

i use mine with traktor (and mini.translator) and it works fine - the mini.translator only captures the 14-bit midi and converts them so that traktor understands them.

I'm pretty sure that you need the translator to make the 14-bit communicate in regular MIDI. I can be wrong on this, but if that's the case, then once Traktor accepts 14-bit you wouldn't need the translator.

Once again, can be wrong, this was my understanding.

Are you sure about this? Itch's implementation is proprietary (not that it would be too hard to duplicate though).

Even without mini.translator you can use the vci-300 with traktor, only to use the pitchfader and the jogs proper you need it.

you have to get a program called "mini.translator" - it's around here in the community s and on the blog somewhere (just do a search).
you have to start the program and then start traktor. then all you have to do is map the controller yourself or get a mapping (.tks for traktor 3, .tsi for traktor pro) from the community here.

good luck and welcome to the "300 club"
