How to paint your vci case? Posted on: 23.02.2009 by Ruiz dB For those who have painted / modded a VCI-100 case, I need some advice...Did you sand off the existing finish completely before adding the primer? Or did you just paint right over it? | |

Ruiz dB 25.02.2009 | Here's a nice pdf I found explaining how to paint PC cases which I believe is very similar to painting the VCI case... or any housing case for that matter... I found it off of a computer modding community . ftp://ftp.sybex.com/4360/4360ch08.pdf Just a FYI... |
Hertha Fang 24.02.2009 | I am doing mine now, I sanded the original coat, and then have sprayed a coat of primer and am doing 2 coats of spray paint, pulling an all evening er job is going to suck tomorrow (lol have to go in at 7:30am) hopefully I will have these up for you all toevening , it depends on how long I let everything dry for before putting it back together. |
Xavier Emanuels 23.02.2009 | i went crazy on mine and sanded the anodized layer, etch primed the metal, primed the metal. then painted it... still not actually finished with it though lolz - i put it back together so i could mix and havent got around to finishing the paint job on it yet lolz |
Hertha Fang 23.02.2009 | Will the spray paint adhere if I sand the case first, but don't use any primer? It is gloss protective enamel (not sure if that matters)? |
Ruiz dB 23.02.2009 | Thank you kind sir!!! I've already started my arcade mod. I had a machinist cut me out a replacement overlay plate for the buttons. (It looks exactly like the the original VCI plate, except it has round buttons.) I believe I'm just gonna scuff it up, lay etch primer and then paint it. I'll post pics soon... |
DJ Pablo 23.02.2009 | I believe you can do both. here's a post with pics of a sandblasted case; http://www.djranking s.com/community /sho...arcade+buttons. But if you want to do a arcadebutton mod, you don't have sandblast, because I believe maybe there will be soon overlays for the arcade button mod. but not sure about that. have a look here; http://www.djranking s.com/community /sho...light=overlays And if you just want to change the colour of your housing, you can make the black/silver paint rough with some sandpaper, and spray it in any colour you like. |
