Fresh from the Musik Messe 2009:
What is the Rane SL 3?
The Rane SL 3 is a new audio interface for Scratch Live. Enhanced by studio grade preamps and 24-bit audio processing, this compact new solution produces a warm punchy sound to heighten the senses. Extra outputs allow DJs and electronic musicians to intensify the mix with the Scratch Live SP-6 Sample Player (New in Version 1.9).

The auxiliary input provides a live input feed for creative sampling or recording your set. Use any combination of audio source. Control CD, Control Vinyl or MIDI for more flexibility than ever.

Feature and performance enhancements include:

* New, Compact Hardware Design
* Higher output improves ability to easily match levels of various source types
* Improved Dynamic Range (104 dB)
* Improved audio performance (24 bit converters)
* Galvanic isolation prevents computer noise from interfering with the audio path
* USB 2.0 high speed audio interface
* Aux Input for Live Mix Recording or LiveFeed
* Aux Out channel allows use of Sample Player as a virtual deck and opens the door for future expansion and creative configurations for DJs and electronic musicians
* High-grade Phono Preamps upgrade performance of most mixers
* Software switchable Direct Thru Connections for simplified connections
* Independent Line/ Phono-level selection for each input for greater flexibility
* Includes International Power Supply to insure optimum performance and easy transfer between DJs
* Soft Carry Case Included

In near future you will see:
SL-1 for 2 decks.
SL-2 & 3 for 3+1 decks.
SLs and ITCH + Ableton Live for infinite decks.

It's a matter of time.

Keep your SL-1.

SW3= 2 decks + 1 virtual deck(future) where do you count 3+1 decks??
Hmm..Also, Where do you get all this great news? Is is fact or fiction?

..Anyone know if the SL3 can be used as a soundcard / ASIO this time around on Mac OSX? SL1 was only good as an ASIO on PC.

question to owners of the SL3:

since (i guess) there are no official asio drivers, is it possible to use the outputs of the SL-3 with two applications at the same time?

eg. using the two main outputs for two music channels (either traktor or serato), and teh AUX output for a standalone sampler (i use NI battery) for some additional SFX?
i dont see me using the internal serato sampler, as it only has 6 slots, no fx etc etc.

but somehow i feel like this wont work. i'm not sure if eg. my m-audio interface allows me to split the ASIO output between two programs at teh same time...

maybe if i use the 4 main out via ASIO and the AUX via a directx driver? this way it works on my m-audio.

any ideas/experience?

RIIA conversor or CDJ (but I believe it could be phono preamp or anything better making it useless)

I did not know the SL3 had 3 inputs via TT, I thought 2 and a aux input, which I was not assured had the phono ability for another deck, but for Live Feed, etc..etc.

. We will see,

SL-3 = 3 inputs (decks) + 1 virtual (your computer)
I'm just wondering... Do you imagine if I "catch the wave"?

SL-3 will have ASIO and Core Audio Drivers. Check the FAQs and Press.
The pieces are out there. It is just plug them.

Dude $700 bucks for this thing are they serious ? Sticking with Traktor and getting an Audio4 seems like a great idea all the sudden .

for me the SL1 sounded pretty darn good, this one must sound amazing.
I just believe 4 outs would have been interesting. The aux maybe for some extra deck some day or the SP-6. Cool .

C'mon!! Damn, now I have to spend more $$? Rane says they don't offer a upgrade/trade discount for going from SL1 to 3 because they claim they are totally different. hmmmm. The only point in upgrading then would be for the db and 24bit?

High-grade Phono Preamps upgrade performance of most mixers
reread this a couple times and i'm still wondering how phono preamps on the sl3 box will upgrade the performance on the mixer side of things?

Yeah, same here. I put my hopes up in my blogcomment.

(single deck SSL with vid plugin as VST for Ableton, so you'd be able to add multiple decks in Ableton. )
