Stanton FS Open help
Stanton FS Open help Posted on: 21.02.2010 by Dustin Haper I purchased a stanton fs open from musicians friend, to use with the vci-100se and traktor pro, and my mac which is running snow leopard doesnt seem to recognize it at all no matter what ive done. It's a firewire connection, the light on the fs open is turning on when i plug it in so i know its getting power but nothing happens. Is anyone else using fs open with a mac? or anyone have suggestions??? thanks in advance | |

Ashirumatic DJ 27.02.2010 | re-install you could try using VM Fusionware and install leopard as a Virtual Machine to test it out |
Dustin Haper 27.02.2010 | Hmmmm is there anyway to downgrade from snow leopard? |
Ashirumatic DJ 26.02.2010 | I would have to say most likely its Snow Leopard. I am running my AMP on iMac and my MacBookPro |
Dustin Haper 26.02.2010 | Yea ive been hoping it will just start working but no luck. Stanton told me to mail it to them but thatll be like 100 bucks there and back, looks like i just have me a fancy paperweight. |
Ashirumatic DJ 25.02.2010 | When I was orig having my issues with my device. I pretty much got the same response on the community s at stanton as well. Then for some reason it just started working. That was becuase I unplugged my PC from the other slot. *** Wicked We beat russia, and toevening gold for womens hockey!** |
Dustin Haper 24.02.2010 | I tried posting on the community
s and they pretty much just said support for this product has been discontinued, which is just retarded. Hmm maybe i should downgrade that could be it. The olympics are insane, its a constant party in the streets, spontaneous O Canadas breaking out everywhere you go haha. I can't wait to beat the russians toevening ! |
Ashirumatic DJ 24.02.2010 | PS : How are you enjoying the Olympic madness? |
Ashirumatic DJ 24.02.2010 | Yeah Stanton customer support sucks ass. Even when in their community
s and if you do actually get any of them on the phone, They seriously sounds as though they hate their lives. Thats odd that it does not work. Perhaps its snow leopard. I had issues with it when I installed it. So I downgraded and just run Leopard. |
Dustin Haper 24.02.2010 | Im using a 13.3" White MacBook Snow leopard 10.6 2.4GHZ 2GB Ram i believe my FireWire port is 400, ive been using the cable with the same male end on either end of the chord, and i tried plug it into an outlet as well no dice doesnt show up in the Audio Midi window or anywhere ugh, and stanton technical support never answers there damn phones, last thing i buy from them. No shops around my house even have a firewire to usb adapter so i have to order that too! |
Ashirumatic DJ 24.02.2010 | Ohhh something I should ask before you go out and buy new chords. What MacBook do you have. What one of the stock chords are you using? 6-pin - 6-pin FW or the 6-pin - 4-pin. If you are you the 6 to 6 then im not to sure what the issue would be. The device should take its power from the laptop. Although you might wanna try to plug it in anyways. If you are using the 6 to 4 then you will need to plug the device in because the 4 pin port does not provide enough power to run the device. ----- The system I am using is a 13.3" UniBody MacbookPro 2.53ghrz 4gbRam Running Leopard 10.5.8 The Firewire port is a FW800 port which is a different piece all together. Thats why I had to buy a new chord. Which is a Dynex with a FW800 to FW400 6-pin adapter. ----- Something you may want to try is to plug your device into your system, then into a power outlet. Then go into Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup and see if your Amp shows up there first. You should have some basic setup to do there. Afterwords go into your System preferences and see if you can select the ScratchAmp as your system sound device. Then try out Traktor and any other audio apps you may be using. |
Dustin Haper 24.02.2010 | Hmmm possibly, im using the chord that was supplied, i was gonna try a firewire to usb adapter, maybe ill also pick up what your using. |
Ashirumatic DJ 24.02.2010 | Thats weird Perhaps its the chord you are using? I am using the Dynastar firewire800 to FW400 adapter |
Dustin Haper 23.02.2010 | hmm it doesnt show up in traktor, oh well, thanks for your help |
Ashirumatic DJ 24.02.2010 | Ok I just hooked my MBP to the FSOpen device and loaded traktor pro 1.1.1 in the audio set up drop down menu I had a look and it shows the Scratchamp 000 device. Which in turn opens up all the audio routing for the device. so it should work. |
Dustin Haper 22.02.2010 | Well i called musicians friend and theyre returning it and i get to keep the product! but not for postage here, still cant get it to work tho |

It is a CoreAudio class device and MacOSX will recognize it. - What you need to make sure is its powered (which you say it is) - Only one computer is plugged into it at the same time (I made that mistake wanting to route two comps into and obviously have it not work, weird how it supplies two FireWire inputs) - Within traktor you will need to choose CoreAudio and then Stanton Scratchamp 000 Now this may be an issue within Traktor its self but I am pretty sure it will work. (I can check this when I get home later this evening, I use ableton with my FSOpen, VCI100 and MacbookPro 13.3") Now what to keep in mind is that you will not get DVS (vinyl control) using traktor. You can if you are using an old version of traktor that supports the FSOpen device and really you can only use the device as an external sound card. Good Luck |

Cristian Carmona 22.02.2010 | taken from the stanton website Please note that Native Instruments Traktor Final Scratch 2.0 software included with the Final Scratch 2 package is not compatible with Universal Binary (Mac Intel computers). The Stanton Scratchamp2 hardware is compatable with the Mac Intel computers. http://www.stantondj.com/v2/fs/prod_fs2.asp |
