Controller w/Built in Interfaces? Hi everyone, I have tons of experience as a producer w/a lot of sequencing / audio software - mainly an ableton-head, that's now transitioning to Traktor Pro for DJ purposes (not scratch). I have a MacBook Pro 13 with 2 USB outs and 1 FireWire out. While I have a number of controllers already (APC40, Launchpad, Nocturn, Maschine), my dilemma is getting a streamlined and right controller setup. Requirements: 1. Mobile, carry as few things as possible 2. Not overloading my ports on the MBP 3. Bus-Powered I'm not into the APC or Launchpad for Traktor b/c you can't really label the buttons etc, so I'm looking into the X1 - which looks totally cool. Downside - no crossfader, and could use a few extra knobs. So one thought is Traktor + X1 + Novation Nocturn + Audio 2 DJ interface. But the issue is 2 USB ports for 3 USB devices! But recently I came across the RMX DJ Console (Hercules) and am attracted to it b/c it's got the built in Audio Interface. I've read really mixed reviews about this device - some people say go for the vestax 100 --- issue is, no built in audio interface. Was wondering if the RMX + X1 is a better choice b/c it's got the built in interface. I do plan to DJ in lounges, bars, and clubs -- and I've read that Hercules audio doesn't compare to Native Instruments... AND people had problems with the bus power for the device being really intense, wondering if it would create problems if I was trying to power two controllers? So basically this post is to get some advice... I also have an Apogee Duet interface which can plug into the firewire port, but I don't love the breakout cables, and again would prefer to have less devices to carry around... Anyone have any thoughts on the DJ Console MK4? or the VCM-100? Maybe a setup of VCM-100 + X1? Thanks a lot for any input! Loopscious | |
