A few questions about the Vestax VCM-600?
Posted on: 10.05.2010 by Tyler Mckibbin
Hello there. I'm new here, been seeing this site alot recently and thought I'd join and firstly, say hello, and secondly wonder if anyone help me with a purchase I want to make with the Vestax VCM-600.

I'm really curious to know if you can actually select individual clips on it too? I understand there is a scene selection knob, but how about actual individual clips? ...Also, what is the general reliablilty for this unit? I'm only just starting to get into live performing (though I've been producing in Live for years now) and this seems like the best unit. I've seen the APC-40, but I really want controls for each track that I can turn at the same time.

Any help/info/tips/experience with this unit would be really appreciated.
Cheers

From what I've seen the Launchpad (or Monome, or Ohm Block) combination with the VCM-600 is the most beastly Ableton setup out there.

I'm actually looking into the same thing to be honest with you. It's really a defining decision for me to go with TT's and a normal mixer, or take the new edge bullet with a VCM-600 (and I'd probably go with an Ohm Block for the VJing capabilities).

hey man, welcome to the community s.

I own a VCM 600 and it is great. very solid and faders/knobs etc. are all high quality.

as for the abletron thing, you can assign play buttons for individual tracks. so the rotary encoder in the bottom right hand corner, or scene selection knob, can be used to select clips on single tracks.

to be fair, i havent used an APC40 but i would suggest getting a Novation Launchpad to go with the VCM, if you have the dosh $$ that is
